Zach Johnson becomes the 16th player to withdraw from the Open. He tested positive for Covid; the good thing is that he was to be on a flight with 16 other golfers who were headed to Royal St. George and had he actually gotten on the flight all of them would have been out of the Open due to the UK close contact rules. No comment on whether he's vaccinated or not.

    Koepka on Royal St. George.

He got his first look at Royal St. George's on Tuesday and was not overly impressed.

"Quite a few blind tee shots, kind of hitting to nothing," Koepka said. "Fairways are quite undulating. I don't know, it's not my favorite of the [10-course] rotation, put it that way.
"[But] I don't care whether I like the place, don't like it. You've still got to play good and go hit the shots. Playing St. Andrews is probably my favorite place in the entire world to play. Portrush two years ago was ... I love that place. I thought that was just such a good Open. A fun golf course to play. Really enjoyed that.

"This one, it's just not as exciting. I don't know why. Whether it be a couple shots to nothing, a couple blind tee shots or shots in where you can't really see much. I'm not too big of a fan of that."

Koepka, 31, is making his seventh appearance at The Open, his last finish a tie for fourth in 2019 at Royal Portrush. He also tied for sixth in 2017 at Royal Birkdale.

How to make friends and influence people....give those British tabloids fodder to make you look like an even bigger jerk than you are. Shut up Bruce and just play.

Jon Rahm has emerged as the betting favorite to win the Open Championship.

BTW do you still really want to call it the British Open?

Paige Spiranac picks Justin Thomas. Me I pick Paige!:D

    upload_2021-7-14_14-1-47.png
We’re less than 24 hours away from the start of the fourth and final major of the 2020-21 PGA Tour season: The Open Championship at Royal St. George’s Golf Club in England. And that means there’s less than 24 hours to lock in picks to win the whole thing. Fortunately, Paige Spiranac is here to help.

In a feature for PointsBet Sportsbook, the former LPGA star said she weighed picking Jon Rahm to win before settling on Justin Thomas to win. Spiranac said she likes the odds on Thomas. She also believes Ian Poulter will finish in the top-10.

“…I wanted to go with Jon Rahm, odds-on-great, because everyone is loving him this week (for good reason),” Spiranac said. “But I’m going to go with Justin Thomas at +2000, and my top-10 is Ian Poulter at +575.”

Looie is the leader at -6 with Jordan Speith on his heels at -5. Phil at +6, still on the course, not very likely to make the cut. That PGA magic might have just been the end for him.

Those closing bogeys on Sat really cost Jordan Speith. He's definitely played better this year overall, but still is having trouble with being in position to close something out but not getting it done. Morikawa really has a nice game, like everybody though it always gets down to his putter.

Bet this guy knows a lot about how to grow weed at home. Didn’t know Keith Richards had a grandson.

Seems like only yesterday that Spieth, Thomas, Koepka et. al were the young lions ready to storm the tour. Now they have to look at Morikawa, Wolf, and Hovland taking aim at them.

I'm pretty sure that if AJ was Cameron Champs caddy he would have never allowed him to hit driver on 18.

It all worked out that he overcame that beyond horrible tee shot, perfect wedge after 2 layups sealed the deal. Glad to see the kid get the win.

Watching the train wreck of a back nine for Harris English and Bryson DeChambeau. English had a 3 shot lead at one point now scrambling to hold on.

They had a graphic up earlier that showed the field was something like 18 under par on the front 9 and 66 over par on the back nine.
