An article this morning in the Columbus Dispatch indicates that Jack will offer a handshake in his presentation to the winner of the trophy Sunday. If the winner chooses not to shake his hand, he may do a fist bump, etc. Jack's presence will be at The Memorial Tournament is confirmed!
Yesterday there was a charity match play event and it was on the Golf Channel. Jack and Barbara were there in their golf cart congratulating the winners from a distance of course!
So Bryson Dechambeau hit a 423 yd drive on a par 4, left him with 46 yds to the pin, he made birdie. Most of the other players had about 140 or so after their drives. But in the end he finished the day 1 over!! Lot of players at -2, Brandon Steele leading at -4. Tiger at -2 all the other big names are down the leader board today.
Holy Cow...Dustin Johnson shot an 80 today, +8. Wow that has to have been a very ugly round from him.
Very little wind here today and we live within 30 miles of the golf course. Wind has always made Muirfield play tough.
Latest remarks from Jack: Jack Nicklaus puts golf's governing bodies on blast as players hammer drives at Muirfield Village
Well he's right, but fans love it! Players would howl like a wounded animal if they mess with the ball though. It does seem like all players should play with the same ball, every other sport does. Although I myself like the ball technology!! I don't need something to take away distance from my drives!

They need to have a fun tourney once a year that you have to play persimmon woods, true blades, and balata balls. Let's see ya work those guys!
Golf may be going down the same path with the long drives as baseball did with juicing and short walls. Its fun to watch for a while but then it gets boring. And you wonder if what you are seeing is real.
One other factor to consider is that this may lead golf course design to move farther from the general public. Will the PGA have to come up with 8000 or 9000 yard courses to make up for the distance? Or make roughs deeper and more.penalizing? Smaller, faster greens. Pot bunkers strategically placed? Or just go back 15 yrs in ball technology? How much of the new distance is club technology?
Well Mr 423yd drive just hit 2 out of bounds, Faldo and Jack couldn't believe he was hitting a wood from his lie and location.. hit the 1st ob, and then came back and used the same club with the same result, then the 3rd with the same club and almost hit it out again.
The courses are plenty long and there are so many that selling 8500-9000 yard tracts would be tough when courses are going under in a lot places. I can't remember the last time I made a tee time in Florida. If you tee off after 2:00 most places will tell you to play as long as you want . Technology is the big thing as is conditioning of the golfers . Some of these guys look like LBs.
Terry, sounds like Tin Cup, but these guys are hitting 8 irons 200+ yds into par 5's. Most courses, I guess were built when 280 was a long drive. Something will have to change or guys will be putting for 2's on every hole.
Dustin Johnson just finished a horrible 2 days, he was 13 over going into 18, hit the green in regulation. Long putt went 2 feet past and he casually tapped it in for par... oops he missed the 2 footer! Bogey to finish +14.
