That winner by one vote was the winner last week. There was a picture of a bear cub running across the road that almost beat out all the other pictures. The Challenger had a 1100+ vote lead when the vote ended. Then, the actual count that they added was not between 500 and 600. It was 1814. That is how many votes I had that were not "bot" generated when my count was zeroed mid-week. So, we actually cleared the Nissan by just short of 3000 votes.
Congratulations Tom! I assume all of us who voted for you will receive a copy of the poster as well??
Some of you have been following the drama on facebook. Up until the reintroduction of the Challenger in 2006, there were very few cars that excited me. When the 2011 SRT8 came out, I was hooked. My dream performance car to that point had been the 1970 TA Challenger 340 six pack with 4 speed pistol grip and Dana 60 rear end. I bought my Challenger and immediately started the quest to make it look as close to the older 70 TA. The Hurst shifter was added but the "Buzzard catcher" hood was on back order. I searched and found this hood in Temecula California. Three choices: 1) Drive hoodless and risk rain on the way that could harm under hood electronics. 2) Ship and assume all risk of damage. 3) Trade in my hood and leave it in California. 1) option was out... do not want to assume that risk. 2) option was out for the same reason. 3) option was negated by that dealer not wanting my hood. They said that I could "donate" it to them... I don't think so scooter! I called my dealership and they checked to find out that the hood had come off of back order last week. There is one that is headed to Dallas right now. They are trying to intercept it for me!
... also, the winning vehicle poster arrived at the house today. Thanks again to all that voted. I ran the Tail many times in my youth. However, digital cameras and the internet were not yet invented. Al Gore was only 26 the first time I made the run. My brother Jimmy would not even be born until 4 years after my first run. This year marks the first time I have done this and have something by which to remember it.
The hood arrived today. It has been inspected and no shipping damage. They started the prep work today and I take them the car on Monday morning. I should have it back on Thursday. That will be the last major modification.
And we need to see a picture of the car when it's finished. A picture with the poster in the background would be great.
