We figure that there will be plenty of tickets available for the MTSU game and we are thinking about going. I had committed to Wed thru Sat with an exclusive group in and around the Pickett state park area which is close to Jamestown Tennessee. I forget... In what town in NC are you living? As much traveling as I have been doing, I'm lucky to remember where I live. I'll see if there is any time left in our tight schedule once I plot out how far you are from Deal's Gap. My brother and I did the Tail back in July on bikes. He is bringing his GT Mustang this time and we are going to play hard.
Tom, we are about an hour from the south end of the Dragon Tail in Franklin. We will be in Florida for a week while attending the Georgia and Vanderbilt games on Oct 29 and Nov 5. We will return on Sunday Nov 6 or Monday Nov 7. For sure on the 6th if we get a chance to see you guys. We have a cabin/trailer right next to our house where we have guests all the time and no one will be there at that time. You would be welcome and we would love to have you. I would offer to meet you at the end of the Dragon, but we probably won't be home in time to do that on Sunday. Let me know. And whether we get to meet or not, enjoy the trip, the game and the ride.
Pics from one photographer. Two more photographers to go. Also will be running it again on Sunday with Jimmy. I have permanent creases in my passenger seat cover. There were a few curves that had Cindy a little uneasy. The above was a .82 G turn at 60 mph decelerating into the turn down to 50 mph in the middle and accelerating out of the turn. Zero understeer in braking and just slightly loose in full acceleration.
Way to go Tom! Would love to make that run in my Z someday... but I'd probably end up talking to the Po-Po... :x
The color really looks good, you've obviously had it waxed to the max...looks esp good against the fall colors back ground.
That ride looks like a blast. I haven't been a rider for years and always preferred the sportsbike over the Harley or other touring motorcycles. For fun, every weekend, I use to run the treacherous Glendora Mountain Rd. On weekends in which I had some time, or felt particularly suicidal, I'd pull the run from Glendora Mountain Road to Glendora Ridge to Mount Baldy Road. you can see it here: http://lateralg.org/roads/orange/foot6.htm If you check the map, that's taking the blue route to the red route to the yellow route to the purple route. While GMR had lots of switchbacks and constant hairpin turns, the real danger was along the ridge and right before you get to Mt Baldy Rd. The guy who wrote the review/runs the page talks about '3rd gear if you're pushing it' and while I'd like to say that is accurate (and safe), I've personally gone up to 4th and hit over 100mph coming in and out of the chicanes along the ridge between GMR and Mt Baldy. Funny enough, hitting a mountain would almost be a blessing. The danger on those roads is that if you wipe out, you're looking at an absolute minimum 100 foot fall before you hit land again...and in some spots, you could fall as far as 300+feet before you (or your bike) hit land. I know some people would take cars up there, but I couldn't see how that would be fun. There's no way you could get out of 2nd gear along that route. I hope you guys have fun!
With you driving you'd probably run out of gas half way and not finish! .....oh yeah that was a cheap shot!
Three more photos coming. Been out of touch since late Tuesday night. Mor about that in a new topic tonight on the Back Room
