I'm just one more opinion (or did I mean ass****? 8) ) but as I become one big wrinkle from burning layers of skin from working my career outside for too many years there is no doubt change is and has occurred in my tenure of making money in the dirt. We started noticing it about 10-12 years ago with more a "feeling" than anything derived from data. Insects changed patterns, movement of fruit or crops either slowed down or sped up depending on the variance of its adaptability in a sub-tropical climate. If it was geared toward growing in a less tropical climate but was on the margin of working in our area for years it rapidly became apparent that we could not achieve the same production yields that were normal for a generation. The opposite was noticed on more tropical varieties improving and generating income.

Yes the thought of global warming was looked on from our little investment from a personal thought process of what is causing this slight almost unnoticeable change in growing food crops. I personally do believe that mankind has impacted the world weather to some degree and is a "no-brainer" to me. But the colossal end of the world rhetoric is a farce that has more to do about expanding the pockets of the Al Gores of the world than hard data. The problem is people want to believe the end is coming and that man kind is evil and the source of all problems. We want to ignore the normal climate change that has occurred for millions of years because we as mankind are self serving narcissist who only look at our current time line as relevant. Is this a 50,100 or 500 year transition I do not know nor do I have the time or brain power to worry about the problem.

It is my belief that we are in one more climate change experienced thousands of times before and what will be thousands of times again in the future no matter if mankind is present or not. The pictures of polar bears clinging to shrunken ice bergs and rivers drying up only feed the fodder of the puppeteers making millions as their acolytes scream the sky is falling...

Leftists: Birth Control Is Needed To Stop Global Warming…
    [IMG]
    Via Daily Caller:

During a discussion series on Monday at the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars in Washington, D.C., speaker and activist Kavita Ramdas argued that contraceptives should be part of a strategy to save the planet, calling lower birth rates a “common sense” part of a climate-change reduction strategy.

At the event, titled “Women’s Health: Key to Climate Adaptation Strategies,” Ramdas pointed to studies conducted by health consultants at the for-profit Futures Group, the government-funded National Center for Atmospheric Research and the International Institute for Applied Systems Analysis, in Austria, to connect contraception with climate change.

Ramdas told The Daily Caller that the research shows “empowering women to time their pregnancies” and avoid unwanted births would reduce carbon emissions between 8 to 15 percent globally.

Global Warming Scam: GAO Counts 641 Programs Across 130 Federal Agencies To Prop Up Failed Solar And Windmill Projects…
    [IMG]
    Scam of the century.

    Via Washington Times:

It’s only now becoming clear how many people have become rich thanks to the global-warming scare. Politicians from both parties have been so afraid of being labeled a “denier” that they’ll vote for any piece of legislation bearing the trendy green label. The numbers are adding up fast.

The Government Accountability Office (GAO) counted a whopping 641 programs in place at 130 federal agencies in 2010 to prop up windmill technology and underwrite solar panel manufacturers. The report released Tuesday didn’t include a reliable estimate of the total cost to taxpayers. The auditors found the array of loans, tax credits, agency purchases of purportedly green vehicles and the cost of regulations would take a great deal of effort to tally.

For instance, the Commerce Department has a Joint Wind Energy Program, Clean Energy Trade Missions, a Global Climate Change Mitigation Incentive Fund, an Environmentally Sustainable Development Investment Priority and a Green Technology Pilot Program – to name just a few. These programs frequently overlap, as the Commerce Department also runs a Green Ship Initiative. The secretary of defense has his own Renewable At-Sea Power Program. The Navy has an Energy Program for Security and Independence, an Alternative Fuels Program, a Third Party-Financed Medium Scale Renewable Power Generation program, and more. Of course, the U.S. Navy was founded on renewable energy. It was wind power that propelled Capt. John Paul Jones and the USS Ranger to victory in battle with the HMS Drake in 1778.

Obama Says Warm Weather In Chicago Making Him Worry About Global Warming…
    [IMG]
Wow, is he dumb or what?
BTW- it's snowing today in the High Desert...

    Via Weekly Standard:

At a posh fundraiser in Atlanta, where 40 guests each paid $35,800 to attend, President Obama talked about . . . the weather. As today’s White House pool reporter notes:

Potus talked about how he had been in Chicago and Atlanta and how the weather was so warm. “It gets you a little nervous about what is happening to global temperatures. When it is 75 degrees in Chicago in the beginning of March, you start thinking. On the other hand, I really have enjoyed nice weather.”

The president was presumably referring to global warming.

Broken promises: The rusting wind turbines of Hawaii

Broken down and rusting, is this the future of Britain’s ‘wind rush’?

    Daily Mail UK

A breathtaking sight awaits those who travel to the southernmost tip of Hawaii’s stunningly beautiful Big Island, though it’s not in any guidebook. On a 100-acre site, where cattle wander past broken ‘Keep Out’ signs, stand the rusting skeletons of scores of wind turbines.

Just a short walk from where endangered monk seals and Hawksbill turtles can be found on an unspoilt sandy beach, a technology that is supposed to be about saving the environment is instead ruining it.

In other parts of the U.S., working wind turbines are killing hundreds of thousands of birds and bats each year, but here the wildlife can perch on the motionless steel blades.

If any spot was tailor-made for a wind farm it would surely be here. The gales are so strong and relentless on the tip of South Point that trees grow almost horizontally.

Yet the 27-year-old Kamaoa Wind Farm remains a relic of the boom and inglorious bust of America’s so-called ‘wind rush’, the world’s first major experiment in wind energy.

At a time when the EU and the British Government are fully paid-up evangelists for wind power, the lesson from America — and the ghostly hulks on this far-flung coast — should be a warning of their folly.

Few people were talking about saving the planet back in the early Eighties. The wind rush was a free-for-all in which get-rich-quick companies exploited ridiculously generous tax breaks to pepper the States with thousands of wind turbines.

For anyone who has questioned Downing Street’s controversial pledge — spurred on by EU green targets — to give £400 million-a-year subsidies to wind farms as well as hefty bribes to landowners in order to spur the building of an additional 4,500 turbines, the wind rush may sound eerily familiar.

Indeed, America’s growing band of wind sceptics insist that what happened three decades ago in the U.S. could easily recur over the next few years in the UK if the wheels come off the wind energy gravy train once again.

So what went wrong? It started with the late Seventies oil crisis that convinced America it had to look around for other sources of power. For a time, wind power was considered to be a serious alternative to fossil fuels.

Obama-Funded “Green Energy” Company Under Investigation For Insider Trading…
    [IMG]
Wonder how Moonbeam can spin this into a positive?

(CBS News) — A company given $126.2 million in stimulus taxpayer funds from the U. S. Department of Energy is under investigation for insider trading according to a federal subpoena obtained by CBS News.

The company, San Francisco-based Ecotality, makes and installs chargers for electric cars.

The subpoena from the Securities and Exchange Commission, issued in December of 2011, specifically asks the company for documentation surrounding the public announcement of the first Department of Energy grant to the company for $99.8 million on August 5, 2009.

The government also wants all communication regarding the federal grant from at least four Ecotality employees and two board members including the company’s CEO Jonathan Read. The company was required to supply documents to the SEC by early January.

A company spokesperson told CBS News in an email, “We are cooperating fully with the SEC and have no further disclosures or updates that we are able to provide outside of our public filings.”

Ecotality received $99 million in 2009 and an additional $26 million in October 2011. Since the beginning of the grant period in October 2009 the company reported creating 144 jobs according to Recovery.gov .

As part of the grant the company is supposed to install 14,000 electric car chargers in five states. To date the company says they have installed 6,400, less than half.

California Dem Gov. Jerry Brown: Solyndra Collapsing a Good Thing Because It Means Price of Solar-Power Falling, “Hallelujah!”…
    [IMG]
They don’t call him “Moonbeam” for nothing.

(WSJ) — California Gov. Jerry Brown said the September bankruptcy of California solar-panel maker Solyndra LLC provided a learning opportunity and will help companies do better.

“I thought failure was part of the process,” Mr. Brown said, speaking at The Wall Street Journal’s ECO:nomics conference in Santa Barbara, Calif. “Hell, I was out of office for how many decades? You gotta try things.”

Mr. Brown pointed out that the collapse of Fremont, Calif.-based Solyndra was a sign that solar-power prices were falling, which benefits California, the largest solar-power market in the U.S.

“Solyndra thought the market was one price, and the price was lower; Hallelujah! California installed 500 megawatts of solar last year and we’ll do more this year.”

Mr. Brown said there’s a lot to learn from the Solyndra debacle, including how politics influences energy. But he notes that Solyndra’s failure—which left U.S. taxpayers on the hook for more than $500 million—was “chump change” compared to the recent mortgage meltdown and financial crisis.

Federal Judge Tosses Global Warming Fanatics Lawsuit Against Energy Companies Claiming Their Carbon Dioxide Caused Hurricane Katrina…
    [IMG]
    Al Gore reportedly inconsolable.

    Via Washington Times:

Climate alarmists have lost a major court case that had the potential for turning every weather emergency into endless litigation. It’s a victory for the law, for science and for common sense.

On Tuesday, Federal Judge Louis Guirola Jr., in the Southern District of Mississippi, dismissed the case of Comer vs. Murphy Oil for lack of standing. Gulf Coast property owners had sought to hold a grab bag of energy companies responsible for damage they suffered from Hurricane Katrina in 2005. The plaintiffs claimed the power companies knowingly had endangered them by emitting unsafe levels of carbon dioxide. The case was dismissed in 2007, then resurrected by the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals in 2009. The latest ruling should put an end to it.

For the property owners to be able to claim damages, the court would have had to accept some vast logical leaps. First is the highly speculative argument that carbon-dioxide emissions contribute to cataclysmic weather. There is no statistical evidence that hurricanes, tornadoes, cyclones or other extreme weather events have been increasing in frequency. Nevertheless, after every disaster, climate alarmists exploit the suffering by claiming it is an example of “global weirding.” Because warming has stopped, this vague notion – which can encompass just about any weather fluctuation – is all they have.

Second, the court would have to link Hurricane Katrina specifically to carbon-dioxide emissions. It would have to accept that the timing, intensity and route of the hurricane were caused by – or at least unduly influenced by – emissions enough to have caused the disaster. This would be speculative to the point of absurdity. Hurricanes have always been with us. Climatologists still have an incomplete understanding of what causes them and the factors that determine their life cycle. Even uber-alarmist Al Gore said days after the Katrina tragedy that “no single hurricane can be blamed on global warming.” This may be the only thing about the climate he has gotten right.

Study: Entire Planet Heated Up During Medieval Times Without Any Human CO2 Emissions
    [IMG]
    But . . . but . . . but . . . the science is settled!

(Daily Mail) — Current theories of the causes and impact of global warming have been thrown into question by a new study which shows that during medieval times the whole of the planet heated up.

It then cooled down naturally and there was even a ‘mini ice age’.

A team of scientists led by geochemist Zunli Lu from Syracuse University in New York state, has found that contrary to the ‘consensus’, the ‘Medieval Warm Period’ approximately 500 to 1,000 years ago wasn’t just confined to Europe.

In fact, it extended all the way down to Antarctica — which means that the Earth has already experience global warming without the aid of human CO2 emissions.

At present the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) argues that the Medieval Warm Period was confined to Europe — therefore that the warming we’re experiencing now is a man-made phenomenon.

However, Professor Lu has shown that this isn’t true — and the evidence lies with a rare mineral called ikaite, which forms in cold waters.

‘Ikaite is an icy version of limestone,’ said Lu. ‘The crystals are only stable under cold conditions and actually melt at room temperature.’

It turns out the water that holds the crystal structure together — called the hydration water — traps information about temperatures present when the crystals formed.

This finding by Lu’s research team establishes, for the first time, ikaite as a reliable way to study past climate conditions.

Another Obama-Funded “Green Energy” Company Goes Belly Up: Solar One Files For Bankruptcy After Being Awarded $2.1 Billion Taxpayer-Funded Loan…
    [IMG]
    Déjà vu.

WILMINGTON, Del. (AP) — A California solar energy company that was unable to meet a deadline for an Energy Department loan guarantee last year has sought bankruptcy protection in Delaware.

Solar Trust of America’s Chapter 11 filing on Monday listed assets between $1 million and $10 million, and liabilities between $10 million and $50 million.

The filing comes amid the ongoing controversy surrounding Solyndra, a solar firm that received a half-billion dollar federal loan and was touted by the Obama administration before declaring bankruptcy last year.

Interior Secretary Ken Salazar and California Gov. Jerry Brown were on hand last June when Solar Trust broke ground on a 1,000-megawatt project in California. The project was touted as the world’s largest solar power plant and a keystone of the Obama administration’s efforts to promote solar energy.

Yesterday the Obama administration announced a delaying tactic which will put off the possibility of new offshore oil drilling on the Atlantic coast for at least five years:
The announcement by the Interior Department sets into motion what will be at least a five year environmental survey to determine whether and where oil production might occur.

Reuters: Gore’s ‘Current’ close to getting booted from Time Warner cable due to low ratings

    **Written by Doug Powers

I for one wouldn’t sleep well at night knowing that the fate of my entire media venture rested on the shoulders of Eliot Spitzer.

    From Reuters:

Al Gore’s Current TV has bigger problems to deal with than a potential lawsuit from fired news anchor Keith Olbermann – namely not getting kicked off Time Warner Cable for low ratings.

According to three sources with knowledge of the situation, Time Warner Cable Inc’s carriage agreement with Current TV stipulates that, if the left-leaning political news network fails to meet a minimum threshold for overall viewers in a given quarter, financial penalties such as Current TV being required to increase marketing and promotion spending on the cable operator’s systems are triggered.

Obama Admin Invests $5 Million In “Green Energy” Project That Utilizes The Power of Cow Crap, Will Create a Scant 15 Jobs…
    [IMG]
Another brilliant investment with our money by the Obama regime, and at the bargain price of only $333,000 per job.

    Via Washington Examiner:

President Obama’s Department of Agriculture (USDA) committed $5 million today to the construction of a “biogas anaerobic digester” that will use cow manure to heat an ethanol plant and create 15 permanent jobs.

Western Plains Energy, LLC, a Kansas company, will use the money to “utilize waste energy resources from a local cattle feedlot to replace almost 90 percent of the fossil fuels currently used” at the plant.

“Animal waste from a local feedlot will be the primary feedstock that Western Plains will use for the digester,” USDA added. “Support for renewable energy projects such as these is an example of the many ways USDA is helping revitalize rural economies.”

NASA Rocked By Rebellion Over Its “Extreme” Endorsement of Global Warming, Nearly 50 Former Scientists And Astronauts Urge Agency To Change Course…
    [IMG]
    Via Washington Secrets:

In an unprecedented slap at NASA’s endorsement of global warming science, nearly 50 former astronauts and scientists — including the ex-boss of the Johnson Space Center — claim the agency is on the wrong side of science and must change course or ruin the reputation of the world’s top space agency.

Challenging statements from NASA that man is causing climate change, the former NASA executives demanded in a letter to Administrator Charles Bolden that he and the agency “refrain from including unproven remarks” supporting global warming in the media.

“We feel that NASA’s advocacy of an extreme position, prior to a thorough study of the possible overwhelming impact of natural climate drivers is inappropriate,” they wrote. “At risk is damage to the exemplary reputation of NASA, NASA’s current or former scientists and employees, and even the reputation of science itself.”

The letter was signed by seven Apollo astronauts, a deputy associate administrator, several scientists, and even the deputy director of the space shuttle program.

Press Release: Sen. James Inhofe Extends a Hearty Congratulations to President Obama for His Big Green Failure
    [IMG]

Washington, D.C. — Senator James Inhofe (R-Okla.), Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works, congratulated President Obama today on his endorsements from the Sierra Club, the League of Conservation Voters, Clean Water Action, and Environment America, which were announced this morning.

“I would like to congratulate President Obama on securing the endorsement of the radical environmental left, a prize that is well deserved and hard won,” Senator Inhofe said. “Looking back on his record, President Obama has many major accomplishments to tout. By imposing backdoor global warming cap-and-trade regulations through the EPA, he is fulfilling his campaign promise that energy prices would ‘necessarily skyrocket’; by vetoing the Keystone pipeline, he gave the far left what one of his supporters called the biggest global warming victory in years; by finalizing the most expensive EPA rule in history, he is making good on his campaign promise that if anybody wants to build a coal fired power plant they can — ‘it’s just that it will bankrupt them’; and he succeeded in throwing hundreds of millions of taxpayer dollars out the window on companies like Solyndra, which he said would lead us to a ‘brighter and more prosperous future.’

“But now that Americans are reeling from the skyrocketing gas and electricity prices that President Obama promised; angry that he stopped the Keystone pipeline and the tens of thousands of jobs it would have created; and outraged over the taxpayer dollars that were wasted on companies like Solyndra, President Obama doesn’t seem to be interested in touting these major accomplishments. Instead of standing in front of solar panels in California and defending his record, he ran all the way to Cushing, Oklahoma to stand in the middle of an oil field in an effort to convince the American people he’s for an all-of-the-above approach.

“It’s not likely that President Obama will be touting this endorsement; he will be running as far away from Big Green as he did from Solyndra while he’s looking for votes. Yet, he’s accomplished so many of his major goals. It’s time for him to stand up and be proud of his record — and be honest with the American people about what’s in store if he secures another term.”

Oh My: Top Scientist Behind “Gaia” Theory Says He And Al Gore Are Guilty Of Being Global Warming “Alarmists,” Admits Predictions Were Wrong…
    [IMG]
Devastating to the global warming fear mongers.

(MSNBC) — James Lovelock, the maverick scientist who became a guru to the environmental movement with his “Gaia” theory of the Earth as a single organism, has admitted to being “alarmist” about climate change and says other environmental commentators, such as Al Gore, were too.

Lovelock, 92, is writing a new book in which he will say climate change is still happening, but not as quickly as he once feared.

He previously painted some of the direst visions of the effects of climate change. In 2006, in an article in the U.K.’s Independent newspaper, he wrote that “before this century is over billions of us will die and the few breeding pairs of people that survive will be in the Arctic where the climate remains tolerable.”

However, the professor admitted in a telephone interview with msnbc.com that he now thinks he had been “extrapolating too far.”

The new book, due to be published next year, will be the third in a trilogy, following his earlier works, “Revenge of Gaia: Why the Earth Is Fighting Back — and How We Can Still Save Humanity,” and “The Vanishing Face of Gaia: A Final Warning: Enjoy It While You Can.” [...]

“The climate is doing its usual tricks. There’s nothing much really happening yet. We were supposed to be halfway toward a frying world now,” he said.

“The world has not warmed up very much since the millennium. Twelve years is a reasonable time. . . it (the temperature) has stayed almost constant, whereas it should have been rising — carbon dioxide is rising, no question about that,” he added.

He pointed to Gore’s “An Inconvenient Truth” and Tim Flannery’s “The Weather Makers” as other examples of “alarmist” forecasts of the future.

Hillary Clinton: Hey, Let’s Flush $105 Million Down The Drain On “Efficient Cooking Solutions” To Stop Global Warming...
    Super.

(CNSNews.com) — China has agreed to join the Global Alliance for Clean Cookstoves, after touring a cookstove exhibit with Secretary of State Hillary Clinton in Beijing on Thursday.

It’s one of several new U.S.-China “eco-partnerships” announced during Clinton’s visit, which has been overshadowed by human rights concerns involving blind dissident Chen Guangcheng.

“This illustrates once again that the United States and China can and will work together in new ways and through many channels to address our common challenges on energy and the environment, two issues that transcend politics,” Clinton said at a ceremony marking the cookstove agreement. She did not address the Chen situation in her remarks.

Clinton launched the Global Alliance, a public-private partnership, two years ago. The stated goal is to save lives, improve livelihoods, empower women and combat climate change by bringing “clean and efficient cooking solutions” to families around the world. The total U.S. commitment to the cookstove project so far is $105 million.
