This year Gaterz I have to put Bama right there at the top and drop Tenn down to a semi-tough until we know more about Dooley.

Kentucky...not so tough this year and big ?? on MSU although semi-tough might yet apply.

    Bobda,
Yes I have seen strong stories about Michigan/Alabama in Dallas. Sounds good to me. Although a home and home is more interesting.

:? Alabama's schedule is what it is. I'm not sure how the open weeks before our games happened and it has probably happened to someone before. I said in another thread that I am afraid that with Alabama's inexperience at the DB positions and literally having zero experience at punter and placekicker and even our long snapper is new, I think we lose 2 games this year because of this. Defense wins championships and ours has a whole area that are going to be freshmen. Now our offense should be awesome but that is not enough at least in my opinion. :?

KP...I don't remember reading about an SEC team having to do what Bama has to do this season with all of those byes.

That said.....Tenn in K-ville could be an easier task than normal....you catch UF at home.....LSU is a question mark and therefore I have seen times when the SEC schedule might appear to be tougher.

But.....it is still a very daunting task because I am a firm believer that byes absolutely help college football teams and if Bama wins the SEC this year then the field in Tuscaloosa needs to be renamed.

For all time Florida always...always played Auburn the very week before playing Georgia and ever since that nonsense stopped when the astute Spurrier came on the scene and put an end to it we all know what has happened to that Georgia dominance......kaput!

Ahh but you are showing your ways again.

You can't claim to be the premier conference in the land that is so much deeper than all others, only to throw those teams who lose or scrap by under the bus to hid back behind your curtain of your #1 team.

That's the beef. Read it again. There's no denying your elite teams are as good as there are out there. You, like many others, have elite but there is the same drop off that everyone else has. Some years some conferences are tougher than others.. but this year in and year out nonsense that you are so much deeper is hogwash.

This past season, you were Bama/UF and then a whole lot of very average teams.

I love how Dave runs down the injury report (to a single player) that managed to be 'injured' for the USC game in consecutive years. BTW, they beat Auburn in consecutive years too. The game down on the plains, Auburn didn't cross the 50 yard line until late in the 3rd quarter.. it might have been the 4th.

Everyone plays good football. We all take turns being better. You just can't admit that.

Well...the SEC has had four different BCS Champions in the past 12 years with LSU and UF winning twice. Additionally...Georgia was preseason #1 a couple of years ago.

The SEC has won 5 of 7 and 6 of 12 BCS Titles which by the way had to be earned on a neutral field....no gifts there.

    All-time conference bowl records:

Bowls Wins Losses Ties Win %
    SEC 348 190 149 9 .559
    Pac-10 193 103 88 2 .539
    Big Ten 209 97 111 1 .467
    ACC 166 81 83 2 .494
    Big 8 127 63 63 1 .500
    Southwest 151 63 80 8 .444
    Big 12 92 45 47 0 .489
    Big East 76 42 34 0 .553
    WAC 101 42 58 1 .421

    SEC = 190 all-time bowl wins......# 2 PAC 10 = 103 all-time bowl wins....

Let's see....is there another conference that comes within 10 miles of what the SEC has done since the inception of the BCS?

Corey, great to see you posting again.

Must be near kickoff with the annual SEC bashing. Here's Gator Bill's new approach.
    • I could care less whether you like the Gator schedule or not
I could care less whether you like the SEC or not.
I do agree with the cycle thing as stated above
While I would like the Gators to play some good teams from around the country it doesn't ruin my day that we don't.
Year in and year out at the end of the season our schedule will be tougher than most.
Finebum is still a jerk and I don't see much chance of that changing.

RoGator, from what I read the Gators have informed Miami that we are not going to schedule them after the upcoming game. What I am hoping that means is on the years when there is an extra Sat, which is the years we have been scheduling Miami, we will look to spread out. I don't know if that will happen or not but I am hoping.

Other than these comments I am busy preparing for my first class Friday. :)

Just a PS to my post above.

I didn't state those things to be argumentative, but to try to avoid confrontation on my part.

If you want to argue Gator schedules you have MCG who will most likely be glad to oblige you.

I'm trying my best to not oblige. :)

Bill....thanks....I'll take it from here big guy.

As I said....the SEC has had four different BCS Champions in the past 12 years and one other good enough to be annointed preseason #1 in Ga.

What that should tell you is that year in and year out the SEC has several very good teams capable of beating anyone nationally and in BCS title years the SEC has some top of the line elite teams.

I will go out on a limb and say in our lifetime we probably will not see another conference with this kind of diversified success on the BCS level.

Note: USC having a run by itself does not equate to what I am saying here.

Kp, I would disagree as to how long you have to celebrate. Bama reigns until a new team is crowned or at least until you lose enough to be out of the running.

As usual GatorBill shows that he is a reasonable guy! Bill is willing to say he'd like to play some teams from around the country but nobody calls him to ask him about the schedule. What a refreshing post. Some other Gators here would rather tap dance across a bed of hot coals before they would say what Bill said.

Not trying to hujack the thread but is anyone else stunned about what this map shows regarding TV revenue. I just ran across it this evening.

My guess is that BDR's beer collection is more valuable than what the PAC 10/12 will receive in TV money under their current contract. Is there a PAC 10 network on the horizon?

    Bobda, those numbers are stunning.

The Big 10 network is something I don't quite understand, but I do understand those $$$$.

Somebody needs to explain to me why the ACC is so valuable to ESPN.
