My turn.... I'm Cornfused...exactly how does a Defunct SWC team, and an evicted tenant of the Texas Ten, fit into the SEC ( School Encouraged Corruption)???
Ignore AJ, he's jealous that Nebraska can't be in the SEC. Then again he may be grateful. The sign is gone. Sign's Gone
Bill, you nailed it. Nothing ugly whatsoever. As an asshole abroad, I've become quite comfortable in identifying other a-holes. Aggie fans are great. I've had nothing but wonderful experiences with them. This is a Texas issue. Aggie, Horn, Horned Frog, Mustang or whatever... it's bigger than the school. Californians are that way.. NoCals and SoCals for different reasons. New Yorkers for sure. Jersey? fuggetaboutit. they wear it like a drag queen wears a banana hat in a pride parade. Why am I not shocked the Tennessee guy who lives in Texas is going with the Aggies I'm quite enjoying the new SEC blood. It's fun. Everyone is learning from everyone and sooner or later, you're all going to see what I mean by Alabama. I know Scott is quite familiar with LSU fans. Alabama fans are nothing like that. By and large, I've found them to be quite pleasant during my trips to Tuscaloosa and I've never gone there to root for the Tide. At the same time, while holding no ill will toward the Tide, I fully get why the rest of the conference seems to have a special dark place in their heart for Alabama. Alabama is to arrogance as the English are to contempt. There's something worse than cantankerous fun such as billboards, jokes in good spirit and state pride... You'll see... you'll see. But in the meantime, watch out for those Gators.. they're fast.
Corey, we've had our season tickets to the Gators since 1990 and sit in an area where visiting fans sit above and very near to us. Also as we walk around to the shops before the games you see lots of the other fans. My experience with Bama fans has been that they are among the best that come to our games. I have never seen a Bama fan that was being obnoxious around us. I know of course that they are not perfect but I look forward to seeing them at our games. My respect for Auburn fans goes back to my college games when every year we played them a lot of their students came to the game and always some of our fraternity brothers from their school would stay at our frat house. Can't say the same thing for FSU or Miami fans.
Corey, let me add that I am not so thrilled with a lot of Gator internet fans right now. So many have a sense of entitlement that it is unbelievable. A win isn't good enough unless it's total domination and any loss is totally unacceptable. I think many internet sites have been taken over by very young people who have sense of history past about 2-3 years.
Bill, Possibly BG was one of the best teams in the MAC this season and the Gators had good reason to seem a little average and sluggish. But otherwise I think Gator fans are being realists.....I know I am and in spite of criticism on this board to the contrary I have always maintained a realistic view of where the Gators are. If they appear to be great....I'll tell it like is. If they look to be average or poor..... ditto. Right now I have big concerns that we may have just entered in to the third season in a row of mediocrity. Going to the Outback or Gator Bowl with a few asskickings along the way is not what most Gator fans envision. Being competitive.....well respected and winning a couple of tough games or two against highly ranked opponents is what most fans and I believe Muschamp is striving for. Again....right now unfortunately we look closer to mediocrity than we do to excellence.
Terry, the Aggies opened at 2.5 point favorite and have remained the betting favorite. I am cautiously optimistic though.
Well, let me get the Visine bottle for ya Swampi Swami.....if it's that close of a game in CoStat, then the refs make sure it's 28 for the Ags..... realistically speaking though, it'll be 48-14 TAMu when the final whistle blows... See TT, Double H can do a twofer also....I'm bilingual ya know....or is that bilateral?....I forget... 1.4 weeks....somebody research that...new record?
Bill, I said arrogant, not obnoxious. Honestly, obnoxious is something that is.. less condescending. The person (or persons) is just a tool, an idiot. You can treat them accordingly. It's appropriate that the Bama fans sit above you, I assure you that they are looking down their nose at you.. No matter how nice they are. They're good people by and large. I enjoy them. Every now and then though, they get out of hand and I have to drop a 'The Bear was 0 for the Irish' or remind them of their combined record against ND and UCLA.. That usually shuts them up and sends them on to baiting some poor Auburn fan. There's always some poor Auburn fan. Those always make Bama fans feel better. Of course, they like to remind me that they are now on top of the college football world and we are..wherever the hell we are... but I also like to remind them that there's historical data to back up my claim that they are on top, simply because they don't play us..
Above me is in the nose bleed section and if they backed up they would fall several hundred feet to the ground. It's ok with me if they look down on me from there.
