Gators make another big play, a 75 yard pass td. 34 - 20 Ten minutes to go. I steal fear Bray but I like this a lot better than about 10 minutes ago.
Final 37 - 20. I did not expect this. The Gator defense has been much better in second half's and lights out in the 4th quarter this year. We haven't been scored on in the 4th quarter. Florida is looking better than I expected, and I think this Tennessee team is pretty good also. Bray and the two wide receivers are something special. I wish them luck the rest of the season.
Maybe Tennessee will have a moral victory here... 21 Stanford 14 Kitten Kakes 4:00 left in the game with Stanford driving the ball.
Didn't see the game but impressive win for the Gators to go into Knoxville get down and then just own the 2nd half. Congrats to Gator Bill!
Second straight week that halftime adjustments lead to a shut down defense. What's your HC's specialty again?
I wish he'd been making those adjustments when he was at Texas, never seemed to do it though...never figured out the UCLA run game in 2010.
Dan Quinn is our Defensive Coordinator and Bryant Young coaches our DL. We have a number of players we rotate though the DL and they did look fresh in the 4th quarter. Terry, I though Muschamp had high ranked defenses most years while at Texas? Brent Pease is our offensive coordinator. Kentucky next week then an off week before we play LSU. Starting Oct 20 we play S. Carolina, Georgia and Missouri in our last 3 SEC games. I am optimistic about this team, but we have started with 4 wins many times including last year only to not finish as strong.
This Gator team finishes strong......hopefully that will continue all season. Muschamp does seem to have a second half strategy....( it was noted how he was resting starters in the first half on defense )......and he does run the ball up the gut a lot sometimes to my chagrin ( 3rd and 1 at the end of the first half....stuffed by UT ). What I see happening is that he has faith in his line depth on defense and in the ability of the offensive line to wear down the opponent. Should work against maybe 9 teams on he schedule and could even win the SEC East.....maybe.
Kentucky is just terrible. I understand that they historically play you tough because it means the world to them and they fall into a pretty sweet spot in the schedule (between UT and LSU), but they were just beaten by the Mighty Hilltoppers at home. They are just downright bad. I like what you guys are doing. You're getting better as the game goes on and there is a decided defensive theme to your style of play. That offense just might shoot you in the foot in a few games, but overall, you gotta chance to get to Atlanta.
The mystery factor for UF is how much the offense has developed including most especially at the Qb position. Jeff Driskell is beginning to play like the top recruit that he was.
I agree with you Corey as far as a chance for Atlanta. However I have to give Georgia the inside track, their two Western opponents are Auburn and Mississippi. Auburn has been historically tough but not so much right now. We still have LSU, in Gainesville but I still don't see us beating them at this point. But I do think we have a chance and I am like you I like what I am seeing of this team, and this coach.
I watched the 1st half of the FL-TN game last night, and I watched Muschamp scream and yell like a madman at the refs and at his own players. I find it incredible that people here were willing to crucify Kelly a year ago for a one-time yelling incident that lasted for less than a quarter of one disastrous game, yet they say nothing of Muschamp's continuous display of temper. Let me be clear that I am not in any way offended by his conduct. My only reason for mentioning it is in contrast to the outrage expressed about Kelly and ignored as it relates to another high profile coach who does the same thing pretty continuously.
Sid, To me, there's a huge difference between Kelly and Muschamp. They are apples and oranges comparisons for the most part, at the same time.. .there are times when Muschamp should probably tone it down as well. I just don't care about Florida like I do ND. I'm not anti-yelling or any of that. If you're a coach, there's a reason you do everything. You can't just be this hysterical lunatic losing your mind over the smallest of things, especially when your own actions regarding play calling and player treatment are being called into question. There is a huge difference between Woody Hayes and John L Smith. Simply sweeping it under the broad category of 'screaming' and suggesting they are doing the same thing is disingenuous at best. Bill, I agree with everything you said. That being said, they are Georgia and historically have a good mystery loss (or two) in them.
I hope you are right about Georgia Corey. Sid, I didn't understand the angst when Kelly lost his temper and yelled either. Some are cool on the sidelines and others are more emotional. From all I can pick up the players like playing for Muschamp so it just doesn't bother me.
You and me are on the same page Sid. Looks like Notre Dame fans have reason to tune in on Sat this year.
