Don, the Buckeyes had a pretty good run in the CWS. They made it 3 years running '65, '66 (Nat'l Champs), and '67. What was going on at Ohio State in that period on the Diamond? Did you have a great coach, a really good group of players who went on to the Major Leagues?

The Irish had a good run with Paul Maineri now the LSU coach but when he left he took the wining with him, is that what happened after '67?

Michigan had a great run from 78-84 but didn't win it all, won titles in '53 and '62.

Minnesota won 3 titles '56, '60 and '64 you don't think of them as a baseball power now days though.

Looking at that the Big10 dominated in the 60's winning titles in '60 , '62,
'64 and '66. I'm guessing that Southern schools weren't as much into college baseball in those days.

In JO'Co's day though nobody could match Southern Cal ...they had a dominance we've not seen since . I forget their coaches name.

    Terry,

I really do not know why we were so successful back then, I really was not following them in my early years. (grin) I do know we had some reallly good pitchers which would have helped immensely.
