I was afraid of Arkansas because of their strengths and Alabama's weaknesses. I am afraid of Florida because of their talent level. They have had top ranked recruiting classes for many years and that amount of talent is always dangerous.
Terry, it seems that Burton is now listed as the starting WR and as backup QB/TE and FB He has become very versatile. KP, Alabama scares me for the same reasons.
Here is one writer who has this game right: http://www.cbssports.com/collegefootball/story/14045630/living-in-the-moment-gatorstide-has-no-rival-in-sports ...and another take: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/bill_trocchi/09/30/florida-alabama/index.html The hype is building.... 8) ...and finally....most everything you want to know about Burton: http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/andy_staples/09/30/florida-trey-burton/index.html
This game is getting some hype to be sure: "Florida-Alabama has evolved into one of college football's most unique rivalries. Some are calling it the biggest, at the moment. "Most rivalries are built out of proximity or history or long-standing relationships," said former NFL quarterback Gary Danielson, who is part of the CBS broadcast team for Saturday night's game. "This rivalry has been born out of greatness. The two teams, their level of play and their excellence on the field has forced each other into a rivalry. "They are not natural rivals. It's become the premier rivalry in college football because of their excellence of play over the last five years" Let's get it on...... :!:
I made my prediction before I found out our field goal kicker is out with back problems, maybe out for the year.
"Without Demps and some other key injuries on offense I have to say 31-17 Bama." Well Demps is pretty much a non-factor and right now I would be happy with my worst case score prediction as given above. Actually I think it may be more like 38-17 when we're done. Brantley's pick and the Burton int on the first UF drive have given much more of an edge to Bama than they needed. Congratulations to Bama and it's fans. That's one helluva team that I believe has all the tools to go 14-0 in a back to back title run.
Shocking score to me, Gators strength this year should have been defense. I mean you guys have a ton of talent on that defense, at least based on * ratings.
The defense held Bama to under 300 yards of offense and shut out the Tide in 2nd half. The UF offense gave up a pick 6 in the 2nd half and set Bama up for a 20 yard drive in the first half. The UF defense in no way was responsible for the magnitude of this loss.
Geez.....these guys just never learn: "Even with the scoreboard reading 31-6 in favor of Alabama, the Gators are convinced most of that was due to their own miscues. "We let one get away," senior defensive tackle Terron Sanders said. "We honestly feel like we could have beat them. We're kicking ourselves a little bit." Come on man....that's two in a row. Time to put up or shut up.......
