    George,

How does someone like this dung beetle become a Major in the US Army? The concept of the character Frank Burns is bad enough... but this is beyond belief.

    AJ,

How do we remove people like this from a volunteer military?

The female civilian police officer that took down the perp was shot in both legs and one arm. She is expected to fully recover. Her husband is in the service at Ft Bragg and is being flown in to be with his wife.

She is being called an American Hero. I agree and praise the officials that pulled the strings to bring in her husband.

    Tom,

I will try to find you an answer. I;m spending Turkey Day in Ohio with family and my wife's uncle will bw there. He is a retired 3 star AF General and former base commander of Edwards and Andrews AFBs and helped develop the B2 bomber.

That's what I would call an expert opinion!

Cindy and I are good friends with Retired General George Edwards that retired while sitting as base commander of the Air Force base here in Austin. I am also going to ask his opinion when he gets back from his annual college football whirlwind tour.

    Thanks George.

The answer is that he's an MD. As a dentist I never went to boot camp, showed up for work in July 1971 and they gave me a Lieutenant's (Captains) bars and I went to work. Had I been a specialist they would have given me Lt. Commanders bars (Major). That's how he got to be a Major, he was an MD and a specialist, it's the lowest rank for them.

I'll ask. He should be back in Austin in about two weeks.

Tom, I think it is asinine and a waste of time and money to commit the same resources and procedures for instance checking out the old white Grandma from Idaho at the airport the same as the Muslim from anywhere.

It's a shame for those America loving Muslims....it really is.....but most of us don't think that most of them do enough to renounce those assholes of their faith causing all of the trouble.

It's something Muslim leaders in America have dealt with very poorly.

    Tom,

    Been busy, I'll reply later.

BTW, Doc's right about the Major thing. It's a commission for certain specialties positions in the military. Chaplains are the same way.

I'm not sure what you are saying, this is what I got ..

Of course there are no Marine medical/dental personnel right? And I don't really know what the difference between a Warrant Officer and a Commissioned Officer is to tell you the truth. Warrants come up through the ranks, do they go to OCS?

    Doc,

When you Commission something, you put it to work.......when you Warrant something, you guarantee it.
