I don't think humor and the Marines go together very well. Not if the movie A Few Good Men that I watched today for the umteenth time has any truth to it
Doc!! Those are Sand Flea Marines in that Picture. I was a Hollywood Jarhead! Same footprints though, just a different location.
That scene in the movie is classic Nicholson. ... and I love Nicholson movies. However, I don't want to hyjack this topic any more than I have already. I'll start a topic on the back room.
Check your memory batteries. You named the wrong guy. I actually wrote a couple of posts expressing support and encouragement. You hurt my feelings by forgetting that I did that.
Done. For the record, as much as we may disagree, I would never say something like that to you. Now....let's move on.
What you may be remembering is this: During one of your rants, about what I don't remember, I made a comment something to the affect of: What if the people her had made fun of your jobless situation and taking unemployment? I don't remember anyone saying anything derogatory about your situation including JIF. Especially not Sid. I wouldn't have been surprised if JIF did but I don't remember it.
The comment was made Tom....and it went in deep. But I was wrong to name Sid....because he is right in that he may be the first to disagree with me but he is not on that platform of making a comment like that.....not his style.
Well, whoever did it was/is and insensitive ass. The health of our economy is balanced on a very thin fence with a hurricane wind in its path. At any time, most of us could be in the same situation you were in or worse.
Thanks Tom.... I think at the time some people were blind to the fact that the economic disaster we were all facing was much more than just union issues in Detroit. Now most people are aware of the fact that everyone nationwide has been vulnerable not just people trying to make a living in Michigan. A downturn is when someone you know gets laid off.....a recession is when your neighbor gets laid off and a depression is when you get laid off.
Good thing UF is recruiting defense because Dunlap is gone and he will be missed: "Dunlap, 6-foot-6, 290 pounds, led the Gators with nine sacks in 2009 and finishes his collegiate career tied for No. 10 on Florida's all-time sack list with 19.5."
