This Florida sportswriter has a pretty good list I think of those specific bowl games that will be more compelling to watch and reasons for it: http://www.gatorsports.com/2018/12/dooley-a-lot-on-line-in-these-five-bowl-games/ One other thing on Florida vs. Michigan in the Peach.... it's the first game of the day before the excitement of the two playoff games following it that afternoon. Lots of people should be settling down with their supplies for a day of football and I think UF vs. Michigan may get some interest of those fans and the highlights and score results will most likely be rehashed during the later telecasts way too much for fans of the team losing the Peach Bowl.
I think if McElwain was still coach then the answer is yes... afraid would be appropriate. With Mullen I do think he has a better handle on Florida tradition and what it might mean to his program to somehow get a W.... and detrimental to just pull a Citrus Bowl debacle and not show up at all. I think the seeds for McElwain's firing began in that listless embarrassing Citrus Bowl loss to Michigan.
LOL.... Meyer has no trouble beating Michigan as a Buckeye but sure as hell did lose to the Wolverines as Gator coach. It's insanity I know for me to expect different results this time.... I'm just hoping for a respectful showing.
Don't know how he left Texas v Georgia off that list Longhorns are on the rise, the only team to beat OU. Many think that the DAWGS are one of the 4 best teams. Win would be huge for Texas
I think we can win Corey.... just not sure it will happen. I do think the Gators will have an 0-4 chip on their shoulder..... but Michigan may have as big of a chip... that debacle in Columbus. Probably Michigan wins close but Florida covers. Texas vs. Georgia should be entertaining and could easily have made this list but I can see the Dawgs scoring a whole lotta points so the game isn't that close at the end.
Thanks Dave, @Terry O'Keefe Every Georgia fan I know not only thinks that not only are they going to beat Texas, but they are going to smoke Texas.
Well, to be fair, there's a whole lotta smokin' going on in Austin these days so it shouldn't be hard for UGA to join(t) in.
We don't grow tobacco in Texas so good luck smoking Texas! I hope the Georgia players buy into that idea that Texas isn't any good and they will beat us handily. They might find it's not that easy.
I'm going out on a limb and predicting that a listless Georgia whose heart was ripped out by the Tide again in their quest for a national title will not be fully engaged and prepared for that Texas offense.... Upset Special!!! Should be on the Bear's board on Gameday..... Texas 42 Georgia 38
I think I misnamed this topic.... the writer means to list what he feels are the 5 games where teams have the most to lose.....not necessarily the biggest of the non-playoff games. Certainly Tx. vs. Ga and OSU- Wash are big watchable games.
Yeah that does put a different spin on it, Texas doesn't have a lot to lose. Texas is a double digit underdog so they can come in loose and play to win with nothing to lose, well that is assuming they play a good game and don't get mashed by 30 points or something like that.
I am very interested in how we will play against Washington in the Rose Bowl. Theoretically, the Huskies have one of the best secondaries in college football. Dwayne Haskins has been excellent in his passing game for the last two games. It would be a nice Retirement present for Urban Meyer. Should be a good game for fans to watch.
In somewhat of a match-up of iconic coaches I attended the UF-PennSt Outback Bowl in 2010 and saw both Meyer and Joe Paterno in their last games at UF and PSU respectively. UF rose to the occasion for Meyer and played great that day in the solid win.... I'm sure the Buckeyes will do the same for Meyer in the Rose.
