That's too bad about Ash, but they definitely need to do whats best for him healthwise.

Too bad Manziel wasn't there playing safety - he could step in.

    :!:

    re: Miami

My wife said their helmets look like "Christmas ornaments." Their 18 year-old QB, Kaaya, looks good, but inexperienced at times. His backup, Jake Heaps, will probably transfer to Mars...

New (ugly) helmets but same mediocre play. Well so much for the hype of new talent making a difference and experienced talent finally understanding the system. We have filled the void in the ACC that Duke used to exist in, continual sub-par play with no improvement.

I wish they would just leave the uniforms alone to be honest...

Don't get too down Ralph. Starting a true fish QB who's had 13 weeks to not only learn the system but also adjust to the speed of the game will make any offense sputter a bit.
Your defense looked pretty good until they got tired...

    That's what I say.

We all know Petrino can coach and he is coaching up a team that I have seen whipping on many teams lately..... including my Gators in a BCS Bowl game.

The Cards look like the real deal to me and should win a ton of ACC games this year.

I didn't know that the Gang of 13 will have their own poll starting in late Oct. Sort of a continuation of the BCS poll I guess.

There certainly were a lot of great games. I went to bed thinking Wisconsin had won only to get up and find out the Hat had pulled another one off with a fake punt that turned the game for him. Everybody says that guy can't coach and that he's an idiot with a lot of talent, seems to me he's a pretty good but unconventional coach. Also I have to say I'm pretty impressed with that Whisky QB who is 6'6" and runs like he's 5'11". Usually guys that big are not that mobile.

I was also pretty darn impressed with Oklahoma State, those guys gave FSU all they could handle. Unless that was just a fluke game for them, they should be a very good B12 team.

What about Baylor QB Bryce Petty fracturing bones in his back. They play Northwestern State this weekend, why would Briles risk him against them unless he was trying to build up the kids stats for a Heisman run. I'd say sit the kid, if those fractures will heal naturally why not give nature an assist and not expose him to another blow for a week.

How about those Temple Owls going into Nashville and routing Vanderbilt? that Temple/Navy game this weekend has new meaning.

USC? Wow what a start for Sark, maybe he should have a player call him out for something every week and quit. USC roster is loaded with highly ranked players for sure, but just not enough of them I think they only have 66 scholarship players. If they are injury free the rest of the year and their players stay clear of the LAPD then they could have a great year and recruiting sanctions are expiring so they will be loading up going forward. That Stanford game this weekend is huge for both teams.

Cornhuskers!!!! those guys looked like the Huskers of old, just ran over the other team. With the Cards taking 1st place in the NLC and the Huskers performance this weekend. A.J. might have dipped into the really good and really old Bourbon stock for a nip or two.

The sub QBs for Miami must be pretty bad. The freshman starter was pitiful. He rarely threw on target. It forced Miami to stay with a running game that was being stuffed by L'ville. Golden has a stellar reputation as a coach, so he must see something there. Maybe the kid just needed to get his first game under his belt. Time will tell.

I thought he was aiming for ground squirrels or something Sid...The same thought crossed my mind, just how bad are the other QB's if they don't get a shot after the freshman's outing. In his defense he looked very nervous..Our QB we were counting on starting this season got injured in spring camp and has about four more games until he is ready.

What bothers me most is we travel to Nebraska in a few weeks and I will never hear the end of it from AJ if things continue as they did last night. :p

You see Freshmen QB's having great years all over college football....but they are Red Shirt Freshmen not true freshmen. I'm sure there are some examples of true freshmen who have had great starts but I'll be there aren't many.

I agree Terry but I am as gullible as any other fan and hoped this was going to be different. In retrospect he was playing high school ball only a few months ago and has impressed the coaching staff enough to start an away game nationally televised so the talent is there hopefully. Louisville stacked the box and said okay let's make the kid beat us because we are not going to let you run....

Ralph, to be clear, I was not saying the Miami QB isn't good. He must be or he wouldn't have been the starter. I just thought he had a deer in headlights look throughout the game. Like I said, Golden is a good coach and knows what he's doing. I also missed the fact that the hoped-for starting QB is out with an injury for the first part of the season.

Terry, you should feel good about how Louisville looked. Those were Charlie Strong's recruits on the field.

Sid I understood you and agree with all points, I still wonder why Golden did not throw in the 5th year transfer QB from BYU in at some point last night.

    RE: Golden

The Miami alumni and fan base is a spoiled bunch with only memories of winning championships in years gone by. They forget that was ten years ago with volumes of issues on and off the field since then. Golden is one of the best recruiters out there it seems and has drawn top 15 classes for the last 2-3 seasons with next year shaping up to be excellent as well. There is building pressure on him to coach these highly talented recruits to compete first within the State of Florida, then the ACC and then Nationally. To be perfectly honest that has not materialized yet and the natives are getting restless. If things continue on as last night seemed to indicate that Miami is showing no improvement from last season expect the pressure to increase.

Miami is no sports town in spite of the numerous teams littered through out, there are just twenty million other things you can do besides attend a sports event. But they have a strong media front that will smell blood and act on it because it draws ratings...

Sid, don't know if you knew that your boy Randy Gregory had his right knee scoped last week......thank gawd that's all it was....losing that beast would hurt us.....he's out this week, but reports say he'll be ready for Fresno next week.
