I don't think LSU came back so much as Wisconsin inexplicably remained committed to their QB throwing the ball. I was having to do the diaper/bottle/fussy/won't sleep thing last night, but I still was able to watch the game. I just couldn't post. Anyway, that game started with even the commentators talking about Wisconsin NOT trusting McEvoy to pass. They wanted to beat up LSU on the ground and they spent 2 quarters doing just that. In the 1st half, Wisconsin passes were more drunken bet payoffs than strategy and that seemed to be working out. Then somehow, they came back and started throwing the ball regularly.. why? Just sit on the god damned ball.. That was the worst 'come back' I've seen in the past few years. Wisconsin just kinda faded, which normally I'd suggest LSU had a lot to do with, but they didn't.. Once again, we get to wonder just how good Wisconsin would be if they ever had a QB..
Believe when I tell you that Alabama is not the No. 2 team in the country. The defense is not close to being good enough. Offense is okay, new qb is okay, running backs are awesome, playcalling and defense suck. Like I said it's going to be a long season for all of the Alabama fans on the Skybox.....oh wait, that's just me :?
Kp, I think I have heard this song before, like maybe last year? More and more parity, should make for another interesting season. Heck we have fans up here who are convinced we are going to be in the playoffs!
Don, I know, I know, but did you watch the game? WVU moved the ball from 10 yd line to 10 yard line with ease. Alabama held a couple of times inside the red zone but their QB was throwing it all over the field and we got no pressure on him. Also we have 2 of the best running backs around, a qb that had never started a game and we didn't starting pounding the running game until the 4th qtr., and Saban was happy with the play calling. Without a stifling defense and not using our best offensive weapons until late, I really think we let teams we should beat hang around with a chance to win late. And we were coming off of a 2 game losing streak.
These are all opening games. Alabama, UCLA and Ohio State are all MUCH better on paper than they showed on Saturday. Let's watch some more games and forget about the rankings. The only thing we know for sure after week #1 is that either Texas A&M is REAL good, or South Carolina is REAL bad...
Kp, Just bits and pieces Kyle. I can understand your concerns and rightfully so from your observations. Like Jim just posted, lets wait for a few games and see how things are progressing. I think we are going to have our hands full with Virginia Tech, even though they have a young team. Brewer is a nice addition for them at QB. Our offensive line needs to really improve if we are going to run the ball. We really have been spoiled having Carlos Hyde back there for several years.
Don, Yeah, we actually have a couple of games to get our stuff together. For OSU, Va. Tech can always be dangerous and we know they will be well coached. For Alabama, I don't know, an offense can develop but it seems like a defense either has it or they don't. I guess we'll see. What do I know? Did you see my first week's picks? haha
In a playoff team type year I would say playing Idaho would hurt more than help UF. But they are not a playoff team and a better bowl possibly awaits a 9-3 team over an 8-3 team.
I can remember hurricanes (yes the actual storms) making Miami reschedule a game on two different occasions. The only difference is fans were not at the stadium and team transportation expenses had not taken place yet. I think the cost would be too high on many avenues....
Ralph, my son and his family are traveling back to Indy via I-65 from a weekend soccer tournament in Nashville, TN. He said he hopes he doesn't get into heavy traffic due to the hordes of Miami fans coming up for the game.
Ha ha ha...Sid I can honestly say there has and never will be hoards of Miami fans.... Your son should not have any issues....
I wish Florida was playing UM tonight Don, that is always a lot of fun. My wife and I were coming home today after spending a wad on a new dishwasher at Lowes. The truck in front of me had a bumber sticker that said: "It's hard to be humble when your a Florida Gator" As fellow college football fans don't we know, don't we know.....The word humble and Florida gator are at opposite poles that's for sure...
Well, Charlie Strong and Texas fans just got a kick in the nuts. David Ash will not play in the BYU game and his career is in jeopardy. That leaves Tyrone Swoopes as our starter. Tyrone Swoopes is an incredible athlete, Tyrone Swoopes is not a Div 1 QB...well at least not so far I guess the QB fairy could always visit him one night this week, but likely he's going to look horrible vs BYU. His back up a true freshman who is a better talent at QB for sure but is really not ready to be a starter on a Power 5 team. Swoopes is a kid who needs to move to WR or even TE, or maybe he'd be a big hitter at safety. But folks it's going to be ugly at Texas this year unless they figure something out. As far as David Ash goes, for his own health and safety he needs to step away from football. The Longhorn Medical staff need to refuse to let him back on the field, his parents need to step in and tell him it's time to work on his life after football.
