Tim you have been very quiet! What are your thoughts on this matchup?

From everything I've read, we're going to get slaughtered and have no chance against one of the great mechanized units of destruction unleashed upon mankind.

Basically, the only hope we have of winning is the coin flip.

It's going to be an insanely tight Christmas for me this year so I can't really see us doing anything too big. However, if we could, this sounds exactly like the type of game we'd need to unleash Carson on. Other than that, I'm just not sure people will even watch the game.

As I understand it when Meyer was asked about the difference between Notre Dame and Cheerios... Urban muttered.... "Cheerios belong in a bowl..."

:p

You plagiarized Lou Holtz's quote from the 1992 or 1993 bowl game vs. Florida, when everyone, including the server, complained that ND didn't belong. We responded by kicking Florida's ass.

I think that was intentional Sid! :)

And it would be a dream to have an outcome like the '92 Sugar Bowl, that was an awesome display by Mirer, Bettis and company...esp the Bus.

I don't really know what to expect from this game. Certainly Ohio State is a great football team, and loaded with talent. Elliot will be the best back we have faced all year, maybe in several years. J.T. Barrett is easily one of the best dual threat QB's we've faced, I'd say DeShaun Watson is better but when we faced him it was a monsoon so it really was hard to figure out how good he was, but he was good enough. On Defense Bosa is a great player top 10 NFL draft choice, and the Ohio State defense is definitely better than our defense.

One thing that is not talked about much but Urban has 3 of Kelly's former assistants on his staff, Alford was with us last year and their OCoord Ed Warinner was with Kelly at ND and Mickey Maroti was the Irish Strength and Conditioning coach under Davie I believe. But Alford and Warinner have a lot of knowledge of the Irish Offense and it's line calls I'm sure.

Hopefully we'll play better than we did in the last bowl game with Ohio State! A win would be nice as well!

Terry,
What about the injuries that have hobbled Notre Dame? Any chance any of those key players will be able to play in the Fiest Bowl?

Don...We will be getting some of those players back, but mind you they have missed the whole season and aren't likely to be the same players but they will help with depth.

The key guy is Jarron Jones a DL who will not be able to go full, but he can give the starters a blow and that will be helpful.

The other guy is Durham Smythe a TE who should be good to go, he was the starter but again he went down so early that we don't really know if how much he'll be able to play and this year the offense was not very TE friendly as in the past with guys like Tyler Eifert.

QB who started Texas game will not be back, nor will the RB who started the Texas game. C.J. Prosise who missed the last few games and who had a great season, will likely be available, 100% not known. If he's not 100% that leaves us with a really talented freshman who performed very well when called upon, named Josh Adams. The other RB probably has less than 20 carries in the season and might get our QB killed on a missed blitz pickup! :)

But overall we should be pretty healthy for the bowl game, such that if you guys win I for one won't say ...what if we had all those injuries back.

Well.......5-7........shoulda been at least 7-5......but lucky to get a bowl invite.......but like Dr. Tom used to say, we'll take it.

Actually very fortunate for NU.....gotta give BoPeep some kudo's here.....him obviously staying on the boys and their grades put us at the top of the heap for grade point avg, and the rest of the 5-7 teams.

Primetime game against a name brand UCLA.....good recruiting area.....extra practices.....more national exposure.....all positive things.....as long as we don't embarras ourselves......

It just came out that Tommie Armstrong has had a bad foot problem since before the purdue game....not making excuses, but that's what has had him throwing really shitty the last half of the season.....we'll see Dec 26th if there's improvement.

He's a hardheaded kid who so far doesn't stick to the game plan......it's been said by the coaches (very gently) that in several games, he didn't trust or execute the play call, and made very bad decisions.....or he doesn't see the field very well.

Can't wait to see POB in action next year.....(Patrick O'Brien)......

I'm thinking (Hoping) that NU has the edged here as far as motivation....UCLA seems to have had a disapointing season, and may not prepare that hard for NU....plus NU has embarrased themselves this year to the point you'd have to think pride and effort has to be top priority going into this game.

Thanks, AJ. Your prediction of a ND loss gives me a slim ray of hope. :D

Sid!!....I know right!?!......my predictions have been so bad lately, that I'll say the sun won't come up tommorow.....just wait and see....

My luck is so bad, I could open up a funeral parlor today, and people would stop dying tommorow....

Last week I bought a new suit with 2 pairs of pants....because you always wear the pants out first.....I burned a hole in the jacket......

NDand thus the Husker

<t>Wow, Husker has been smokin some of those corn silks out there! That prediction would probably be more likely if it were Neb against OSU but this is ND. We can handle tOSU.😃</t>
