Two 4s and three 2s have won the playoff so far: List of College Football Playoff games - Wikipedia Interesting that no number 1s have won it but that might change this year.....
True, but I wouldn't consider them Cinderella's...If an 8 team playoff were in effect and say Baylor won then I'd say that was a Cinderella type of win.
I love that we can agree to disagree on subjects here and have for so long. Yet we move onto the next game like nothing ever happened. Speaking of next games, there's some quality, competitive football being played today on ESPN and Fox .
UVa is bringing the heart, but I don't know if they have the depth to play the Gators for 4 quarters. You're right though, this is a fun game.
well, it was suppose to be a tackle eligible fake in which they threw the ball backwards, so the guy didn't have to be eligible, but they screwed it up. I'm surprised. Virginia stayed with Florida all night. They just didn't have enough ponies. Hats off to the Gators.
Yep... there was a definite talent deficit for Virginia, but they fought the whole way. I enjoyed this one even if the underdog fell a little short.
Well played game by both squads.... highly entertaining football. I'm just glad the Gators could play good enough on defense to slow up Perkins. I can easily see why they were in the ACC Title game to begin with and this could have been one of those crappy bowl endings if Florida didn't come prepared and motivated to play. Damn I hate when a season ends like that and Mullen gets some serious cred for not allowing that to happen vs. what proved to be a motivated two touchdown underdog.
While maybe not a great Gator win, it was a win and 11-2 is the best we have done in years. And the two teams we lost to won the two divisions in the SEC, and one of them is in the Championship game. Had Alabama beat Auburn they would have been the 4th team.
I was impressed by Bryce Perkins when I saw him play vs the Irish earlier in the season. Big kid, strong arm, very athletic. His OL let him down that day and our guys sacked him a bunch. Our game played out a lot like the Orange Bowl, we won 35-20. His receivers made a lot of great catches that day. He has a NFL future, maybe not Lamar Jackson, but with the current trend towards athletic QB's I could see him making a team and maybe developing into a starter.
Texas game tonight vs Utah is a very big game for the Longhorns. One last chance at redemption and a springboard into a good 2020 season. Utes are a very good team and no doubt they will also come in motivated after their loss to Oregon in the Pac12 Championship game. Both teams with something to prove. I expect Sam Ehlinger to have a great game tonight. If he doesn't we have no chance.
Florida State gave it everything they had and they used a very clever zone blitz scheme to disrupt Arizona State's offense, but in the end it wasn't enough. Just too much D from ASU. There's always something sleepy about the Sun Bowl until the 2nd half. Today was no different. Navy and KState are locked in a slobber knocker right now. I think Texas and Utah should be a good game tonight. Texas has so many great athletes, I just don't see them being 'out' of any game. I expect them to compete at a high level in front of what is sure to be a heavily home friendly crowd.
