That was a big win for a Texas team who badly needed one outside of the Big12. The Georgia players spent so much time bitching about the playoff snub that they didn't realize Texas plays real football too. By the time Texas had slapped their ass and called them Sally, it was already too late. Good night for Terry and any Horns lurking out there.
Yep, Texas came to play, especially Erhlinger! He was able to pretty much fun for 10 yds. Anytime he wanted to.
A major surprise to me from the bowl games yesterday was the whipping Kentucky put on Penn State. One thing that is great to me is the unpredictability of how college games will turn out. Not so good sometimes for the fans, but it sure can things interesting.
#3, 4, 5, 7,8, 9 and 12 in the end of the season CFP rankings all lost their bowl games. Will be interesting to see how things shake out in the final rankings.
I think you have to put down Texas, Florida, Auburn and Kentucky as teams that far exceeded performance expectations this bowl season. A case could be made for Army, Cincinnati and TexA&M as well. Not sure Clemson belongs in that category as much as ND just didn't perform up to expectations.
I knew Army was going to beat Houston, you just had to watch how Houston cratered in Nov esp after they lost their QB in D'Eriq King who is a poor man's Kyler Murray. They were a team that couldn't stop anybody and had a true freshman at QB with a couple of games under his belt. Army was a really good team this year, you could see that in how well they played on the road at Norman and how they finished off the season. They were a team on the rise and Houston was a team heading down. Perfect Storm. It will be interesting to see how the final rankings work out. Alabama and Clemson will be 1, 2 no matter who wins the game. But the rest is up in the air after the bowls. Notre Dame will move down, OU will drop a little, Georgia will drop as well, Michigan will drop. My guess 1. Alabama 2. Clemson 3. Ohio State 4. Fla 5. OU 6. Georgia 7. ND 8. Texas 9. LSU 10. Kentucky or Washington State.
Terry, I'll be honest...If Alabama doesn't win on Monday then I don't really care whether we finish 2 or 3 or 4 or whatever.
I agree with 1,2 and 3 but I think OU is 4, ND 5 and Georgia is 6 followed by Florida at 7 then Texas, LSU and Ky. Could possibly be Fla at 6, then Texas at 7 and then Georgia.
Don, will anyone remember if you are #2 or #3? It will still be a very good season but the final ranking will be irrelevant.
For Clemson and Alabama sure, but for the rest of us and for purposes of recruiting and having a program profile that is great end of season rankings are meaningful. Being able to point to your team finishing in the top 10 the last 5 or 6 years in a row is a good thing, the higher the better.
Terry, I hear you but I'm not sure that will be the difference in many recruit's minds and you're right it doesn't matter much to Alabama or Clemson at least this year.
I like it but don't agree. I don't see Florida any higher than 7. I agree with your top 3 then think Georgia OU, ND come in the next 3 with Florida at 7. Texas and LSU and 10 kind of up for grabs.
Florida probably will be at #7 final ranking which is pretty damn awesome to me. For sure a top ten preseason team next year....and maybe around the mid top ten at 5, 6 or 7.
Pretty awesome to me also Dave. We just got news today that Van Jefferson. Polite and Zuniga are all coming back.
Bogeyman at 26 and Gator Bill at 25, if they both picked the same Bogeyman wins, if they picked opposite it could be a tie, and then the tiebreakers come into play. I see that the 2 leaders in the overall contest have 33 correct picks, those are some good or lucky pickers!
