Another massive series of earthquakes has struck. Centered about one mile from the earlier 6.6 quake in Ridgecrest, CA; this one was 7.1 followed by another one of similar size. I'm about 75 miles from there in the same desert. From Phoenix, AZ, to Las Vegas, NV, swimming pools were sloshing water from side to side. Our chandeliers were going around in circles as we watched Dodger Stadium rocking and rolling on TV. The foul poles were still swaying 5 minutes after the first jolt and the cameras were jumping so bad it was difficult to watch the game for more than a minute. The last aftershock hit when I began writing this note, so we're not out of the woods yet.

I'm saying a prayer for you and Diane. Hope you don't get more than what you've already experienced.

Move to Nebraska coach. The only shock we have around here is when a kid from Omaha Burke verbals to the Irish.

Thanks guys. I don't know about San Diego, but they got rocked pretty good in Phoenix, AZ; Las Vegas, NV; and Santa Monica, CA. They closed down the rides at Disneyland and closed off several main highways. Most of that area contains military bases such as Ft. Irwin and China Lake, so the flow of information to the public is constrained. One thing that we learned last night, was that the 6.6 "earthquake" of two days ago wasn't an earthquake at all. It was a foreshock of the much larger 7.1 quake last night...EIGHT times more powerful than the 6.6. Thousands of aftershocks are happening now, most of them from 5.0 down to 3.0. The scary thing now is the realization that this is what happened at Mt. St Helens when it became active again. Clear Lake is a dormant volcano. So is Mt. San Gorgonio and several other large mountains around here. The plot thickens...

The greatest danger to our health here is our state government. After wasting more than $40 billion on our cancelled "train to nowhere" they raised our already highest in the nation gas tax on July 1st and placed ANOTHER road repair tax on the next ballot...
