My oldest daughter, a front line nurse here in Indianapolis, received the first of two Pfizer vaccinations on Sunday with the second to follow 18 days later. That alone makes this a merry Christmas for me.
Meanwhile, in the People's Republic of Massachusetts, felons will be given priority. Why? Massachusetts Inmates Will Be Among First To Receive COVID Vaccine This says it all “We used equity as a core principle in our recommendations,” said Dr. Simone Wildes, an infectious disease specialist and a member of the state’s Covid-19 vaccine advisory group. In other words, now these same liars who've been screaming "follow the science" are going to destribute the vaccine, not to the most vulnerable, but on the basis of equality. How do supposedly sane people put dishonest ideologues in charge of anything?
The hodge/podge distribution of the vacccine is slowing down the program. There are so many places in the Houston area that have received the vaccine but they got 100 doses, and you have to have an appointment. To get an appointment you have to register, I'm registered at 2 places. I'm no expert in these things but it seems like a better distribution system is needed.
Going this afternoon to get my first shot. It was just lucky that I got on a list, here in Texas it's a hodge podge system and you have to keep checking various places and hope you hit a website that has an open app for you to request an appointment.
Survey of 1: Slight soreness at injection site, I did get a little minor headache yesterday evening but none today and arm is OK.
Terry, my daughter the nurse got her second shot this past Sunday. After both shots, she had a temporary minor headache and slight arm soreness. I saw a piece just today on the local TV news, where they interviewed a nurse who had received her shot. Same thing. Minor headache and arm soreness. Both went away. You're in good company.
One of my employees wife is a nurse administering vaccinations in the Ft. Myers area. There are 15 nurses in her office along with one doctor and the office manager. The vaccination was offered to their office a week before the planned public vaccinations. Only the doctor and office manager received the shot with all 15 nurses opting out.
Seems like a lot of nurses I know are opting out. I respectfully think that is the wrong approach and I will get it as soon as I can.
I asked her why and she said both her and several of the nurses are considering having another child or currently are trying and felt there was not enough data to chance it with pregnancy
I managed to get scheduled next week and a booster in mid Feb. I've started to plan a vacation for early Mar. Looking forward to life without Covid worries.
Phone lines opened at noon in Lee County for 9,000 doses next week. Got ready to fight the phone lottery (busy signals etc.). Used two phones. Figured to spend half the afternoon trying to get through. They “sold out” in six minutes and closed the phones down. Have our names in over at Collier County but not holding my breath. At least they aren’t playing phone lotto.
My wife and I registered with the state of New Jersey one week ago. The state was allotted 641,00 doses in the first batch. So far only 1/3 of those have been used. Today they are supposed to announce that all 65 + folks are the priority. Aparently a good portion of the healthcare community has had there shots or have passed .
Good luck guys, I hope you all get on the list soon. Mike, I assume you mean for you and your wife, rather than in general. (which is great!) I don't see our "Leaders" letting this thing go at any point for the overall situation.
Nothing but best wishes for everyone who wants the vaccination, let’s hope its soon. I’m glad Florida has prioritized those 65 and older as I would love to see my 88 year old father get one. He feels very isolated from family as does most of the population as he hunkers down. I live in a rural area of the state and our amount of allotted medicine is very small and the locals are competing with folks from Orlando and Tampa who drive into the area to get a vaccination. At the current rate it may be a while before a substantial percentage of the population is inoculated
I saw a post about an older couple who had their first shots and scheduled for their 2nd shots talking about how much they are looking forward to seeing their Grandchildren. They certainly will be as safe as they can be after the vaccination, but they can still be carriers so their son/daughter and their kids still have risk from them entering the home. So they will still need to wear masks and practice social distancing with the family until everybody in the family is vaccinated.
You're correct. We really enjoyed a cruise of the Baltic we took a couple of summers ago to celebrate our 50th. We had a cruise in May cancelled and we used the credit to book a cruise out of Amsterdam to Iceland and the Norwegian fiords. It's scheduled for June and it's very doubtful it will go. I've managed to get back much of my mobility and want to enjoy traveling while I can.
I know what you're going through. I'd like to get my mother (97) vaccinated but she's not interested. Of course how many 97 yr. olds are out there who never take any meds? She lives in a two story home and sleeps upstairs. I hope I have a lot of her genes.
