From Forbes: "Trump made a similar accusation last Saturday at a rally in Wisconsin, telling his audience that other countries "report differently." The president claimed that doctors in the U.S. "get more money and hospitals get more money" for each Covid death. "Think of this incentive," he added. The American Medical Association responded to the allegation by tweeting, "let's be clear physicians are not inflating the number of COVID-19 patients." Ashish K. Jha, the dean of the Brown University School of Public Health, wrote that Trump's charges were false and offensive and that they demonstrate "a fundamental misunderstanding of how hospital billing works." Jha added, "to hear our President demean doctors who, along with nurses, have put their lives on the line to manage this public health disaster is beyond the pale." The president of the American College of Physicians characterized Trump's comments as "a reprehensible attack on physicians' ethics and professionalism.",
" DoJ Recovered $2.6B from Healthcare Fraud Cases in 2019 The Department of Justice recovered over $3 billion from False Claims cases in the 2019 fiscal year, with $2.6 billion coming form healthcare fraud schemes." Someone should tell that Ivy League asshole that he's the one who has a fundamental misunderstanding of how hospital billing works.
Well, if nobody watched the last one you probably won't watch this one either (long) but it's fascinating stuff;
"understanding frequently is what he wants not the way things are." My understanding of things said by Trump are driven by exactly what I have said numerous times on here...... the understanding is derived from the precise words that Trump utters. Thankfully now with his defeat he will fade into the alt-right cable TV sunset not to be heard by many.
Gotta watch them...basically evidence (scientific) against lockdowns...and even masks. Not 100% on board with it but it goes along with my observation that cases are up but deaths are stable or even down in most places...making the case fatality rate MUCH less than it was in the spring.
Good news from Pfizer on their vaccine! 90% effective in phase 3 trial, results not final but looking good. On the other hand nobody seems to want to critical of the Biden rallies like they are of Trump rallies.
Terry, which rallies are you referring to, the organized rallies where Biden is speaking or the impromptu rallies across the country? Respectfully, if you're comparing the latter to the organized rallies where Trump was speaking and which the Trump organization controlled, it seems like an apples to oranges comparison. FWIW, not that anyone cares but I don't approve of either.
I'm talking about the spontaneous rallies Sid, I agree those are different from campaign rallies. Still neither Biden or the media have made any move to be critical of those rallies/parties. Where as they have been critical of any Trump/Republican rally no matter if it's a campaign stop or spontaneous rally.
I'm not the most well-read person around, but the only public criticisms I'm aware of are the Trump campaign rallies and the heavily attended White House gatherings. Thinking about what you are saying, I agree with you that there should be public criticism of all large gatherings regardless of reason or whether organized or spontaneous.
Question will be about the Inauguration, usually hundreds of thousands of people. Will Biden cancel it and have a swearing in privately (televised) somewhere in the Capital?
"Biden or the media have made any move to be critical of those rallies/parties. Where as they have been critical of any Trump/Republican rally no matter if it's a campaign stop or spontaneous rally." I agree but with two major differences..... Trump does purposely call those rallies together and in almost every pic most people..... like Ben Carson who just today was diagnosed with Covid-19..... do not wear masks in a jammed together crowd. Carson was at rallies in Florida by the way. In pics of spontaneous Biden crowd celebrations most people had masks on.
The Gov of Washington is set to lock down the economy again, severely. Gov. Jay Inslee will announce sweeping new restrictions Sunday to curb surging COVID-19 cases, including a ban on both indoor social gatherings and indoor service at restaurants and bars, closures of businesses such as gyms, and sharp occupancy limits for retailers and others, according to industry officials briefed by the governor’s staff. A spokesperson for the governor would not confirm those reports, but also did not dispute details being circulated by industry associations about the restrictions, which are expected to take effect in the coming days. Inslee has scheduled a news conference for 11 a.m. Sunday. The restrictions had yet to be finalized Saturday, but appeared to confirm the most stringent scenarios that had emerged shortly after Inslee hinted Thursday that new measures were coming. Set to last for four weeks, the new restrictions would limit retailers, such as grocery and convenience stores, as well as nail salons, to 25% of occupancy, according to those officials. Gyms, bowling alleys, museums, movie theaters and aquariums would be required to close, industry officials said. Inslee to ban indoor gatherings and dining, plus issue more COVID-19 restrictions for Washington state, industry sources say
I really don't understand how it's OK to just put folks out of business? Is the goal here to put them all on government assist?
"President Donald Trump is facing a barrage of calls to permit potentially life-saving transition talks between his health officials and incoming President-elect Joe Biden's aides on a fast-worsening pandemic he is continuing to ignore in his obsessive effort to discredit an election that he clearly lost. The increasingly urgent pleas are coming from inside his administration, the President-elect's team and independent public health experts as Covid-19 cases rage out of control countrywide, claiming more than 1,000 US lives a day. More than 246,000 Americans have now died from the disease. But instead of listening or mobilizing to tackle what some medical experts warn is becoming a "humanitarian" crisis, Trump spent the weekend during which the US passed 11 million infections amplifying lies and misinformation about his election loss. At one point, he appeared to acknowledge Sunday in a tweet that Biden won, before backtracking with a stream of defiance on Twitter." And his tweet in bold type this morning.... "I WON THE ELECTION".... Mad world we live in.....
Moderna has also now come up with excellent results from their trial. So there are now two vaccines that are on track to help with this pandemic.
What "potentially life-saving talks?" More Dem ********. Trump should treat Biden like he and Obama treated him. First spy on him then plan to accuse him of colluding with the Russians. I hope the Republicans win back the House in 2022. Then we can impeach his/her ass.
