The more positives you have the more deaths will result. For several weeks now Florida has had 20-25 x more positives each day than NJ. The two most important numbers are % of positives per 100 tested and the rate of transmission. At our peak in NJ the rate of transmission was 1:5.8 . What is Florida's today? Ours is now 1:.9. Our positivity rate is around 2.5%. Florida's has to be double digits.

I believe Florida's positivity is over 10% while Miami Dade has been as high as 28%.

Make no mistake that I am NOT biased toward living in NY..... jeezus.

If New York had now what they had in April they would deal with it much better and if they had in April what Florida has now with younger ages getting it and better methods of treatment they would have done much better than the deaths they had.

Bill you must be buying into the 99% harmless lie that your man is telling America.
If that was truly the case we would be planning on college football as a certainty but CFB knows the truth and none of that group wants a stay in hospital with long term lung damage a real possibility. But hey.... you do what you want.... as everyone does do what they want.
Good luck to you and me..... we're not of a good age or in my case a predisposition of morbidity to get Covid-19....

I posted that article either yesterday or day before and of course with MCG it fell on deaf ears/eyes.

George, what I would disagree with you about is that I think the death rate is very important and that is staying low with Florida.

They did Bobda, and since recruiting is on the upbeat, that has calmed us down significantly. Coach Frosts car has a train sound for his horn, and he honks it back and forth from work. Just drives us good crazy!

It says under 1%.... so maybe it's way way under 1%.

As bad as Florida is the state has a 1.4 % infection total of the state's population.

36 high schoolers in Il. just came down with it..... so that's a negative.

So we can only hope..... that studies like this one will carry weight when our kids go back.

Covid caused, at one point on time, unemployment rates to hit Great Depression levels. But, while small businesses are dying on the vine, it is harvest time for JP Morgan

Trump On a Fox News interview yesterday
"I'll be right eventually. I will be right eventually. You know I said, 'It's going to disappear.' I'll say it again," Trump said in an interview on "Fox News Sunday."

So 1 1/2 years from now after a million deaths and a crippled economy with the help of the new vaccines the virus finally goes away.... stubbornly because his base keeps following his trail of lies and misconceptions the virus goes away and Trump proudly exclaims from his retirement in Maralago....

    Told ya so!!

    Interesting info.
Makes a lot of sense, and fits.
So teachers really have NOTHING to worry about... as my wife says: "We've been exposed to EVERYTHING!"... :)

The Oxford vaccine trial is getting a lot of publicity for their positive results. I see that there are 17 vaccines candidates around the world. That's a lot, if more than a couple show similar results against the virus I wonder how we'll decide which one to adopt here in the USA. Can't happen fast enough for me.

LONDON — Two candidate vaccines, including a closely watched one being developed at the University of Oxford, showed positive trial results Monday against the virus that causes COVID-19, making it more likely that a safe, effective vaccine can be developed quickly.

University of Oxford coronavirus vaccine candidate shows early promise

"safe, effective vaccine can be developed quickly."

First test group should be NCAA FBS college football players, coaches and cheerleaders!!

A personal note. I started the new Shingles vaccine regimen back in late Nov 2019, it's been highly recommended esp for us oldsters. I had the original shingles vaccine but the new one covers more of the variants, so it was recommended strongly by my PCP. It comes with a bit of a warning that some have flu like symptoms of varying degrees esp after the 2nd shot. I had no symptoms like that with the first shot and you are to get the 2nd shot 2-6 months after the 1st...which found me smack dab in the middle of the Corona Virus pandemic and I've been hesitant to get that second shot and risk getting the potential side effects that could make me seem like I may have the corona virus. From what I've read I could still get the 2nd shot but there is no research to backup the results and it's at this time not recommended that you restart the regimen. Damn Corona Virus!!

I'd laugh Terry, but shingles is NOT funny.
I know... I've had it. Misery. Thankfully I got treated pretty quick before it got all over.

On another note... a friend said this is the rule for opening schools in California, maybe the O'Connors can verify?
If so... I'm wondering if any virus (cold/flu) EVER gets below a .1% infection rate???
