That does sound pretty heartless Stu.... especially for those of us older more vulnerable folks.

More people in America are starting to care how this pandemic is going instead of just brushing it aside as Trump would have us do:
"On Friday, the number of new coronavirus cases in the US rose to 63,900, a new single-day record according to John Hopkins University data.
A new ABC News/Ipsos poll released on Friday showed that two-thirds of Americans (67%) now disapprove of Trump's handling of the response to the coronavirus. That number had increased even among Republicans -- 78% of GOP voters approve of his handling of coronavirus compared to 90% in June."

Maybe if we just look at Fox News the virus will just disappear.
    Fox News

It's actually pretty incredible to me that "fascists" in Portland capture the headlines over a pandemic that is ravaging our nation and severely affecting everyone's way of life..... and ending some like the 30 year old Texas man who thought the virus was a hoax and contracted a fatal case of the virus by attending a "Covid-19" party.
Good luck AJ..... you keep watching Fox News.... and hope to God that where you live continues to be a safer place.

The flip side of the CNN vs. Fox thing is zero coverage of the Portland rioting on CNN.com. (At least I couldn’t find it). They must think that coverage of criminal rioting is not helping their political cause. It’s all Trump this and Trump that. With a sprinkling of Faucci.

Criminal rioting in Portland is not cancelling my college football watching in the fall, threatening my grandchildren when they do go back to schools that are not prepared or funded for fighting the virus and keeping me from doing many things that I like to do.

I know Stu that Fox News has the tab to check on Coronavirus News if you wanted to click on it but it's a small tab compared to those large headlines of unrest and leftist activities that they would rather stir up the base with.
Coronavirus has overrun our nation's well being in so many ways.... and Fox News along with Trump don't want to see it that way. But.... by continuing down that path he is sealing his doom in November and that of GOP senate races as well. I thought he was an evil genius but I'm starting not to believe the genius part.

Hmm...top four stories on Foxnews.com right now are about the coronavirus...but don't let that stop your narrative.

Now this one headline caught my eye under that tab:
Florida strip clubs shuttered for lack of social distancing
To that news I say.... duh.
Just one of those things we in Florida especially have had to eliminate as one of our fun activities....
More upsetting than no college football..... dammit!

I've been gone for a little while so some catch up comments.
    1. I'm really impressed that President Dave could actually unilaterally add 100,000 employees to the government payroll without funding by Congress. With training and supervision that's at least a billion. Hell Trump was having trouble getting money for a wall. Way to go President Dave.
Then there's the polls. It seems that the media is having an impact of people's impressions. Let's look at probably the most inept of the governors (OK maybe Whitmer) Cuomo. Here's a poll showing 60% rate his performance as excellent.
Poll: Gov. Cuomo’s approval rating soaring during coronavirus outbreak | RochesterFirst
I'm not sure just what impressed the voters, his refusal to replenish the ventilator supply a while ago before the pandemic, his utter overestimation of how many ventilators and hospital beds he needed for Trump (recall the unused ship Mercy and all those beds that went unused in the Javits center. He was just like Chicken Little crying for much more help than he needed. And then there were the thousands of deaths of nursing home patients forced to exist in the same institutions as Covid patients. Yeah, if you're a New Yorker, he's you kind of guy. Of course these are the same people who reelected Diblasio, renominated AOC and who voted for Hillary. Ya can't fix stupid.

Unfortunately there's plenty of unemployed out there that could fill those 100,000 positions.
Not to worry.... today Trump announced an end to the virus by ending testing.
No tests = no virus in Trump World.

The Texas guy was a victim of Darwinism. Natural selection will always weed out the unfit or incredible stupid from the herd. If covid didn't kill him he would have accidentally driven off a cliff or held his 9I skyward in the middle of a lightning storm.

People still don't want to believe it till it happens to them.
I personally don't want to get that sick.... and possibly wind up in the hospital whether it kills me or not.
And I would never want to be responsible for what it would do to my wife and/or family.... the guilt of that would be debilitating if it was because I was just plain careless or non-believing.
Death rates are down in NJ and NY because the new case rates are way way down.... especially when compared to a state out of control like Florida.
And they are down also because treatments have improved and because younger people are getting infected and don't die as often. But the virus can have lasting consequences health wise and not being able to breathe and having to go to the hospital because of it are still possibilities..... and I prefer to take it seriously and hopefully avoid it.

Case rates are down in NJ and NY because they were never successful in slowing the first wave. Perhaps some of that was unavoidable, given the close living conditions and need for public transportation...and possibly a more transmissible mutation that hit that area first and now is afflicting everybody else (see the article I previously posted.)

MCG, one has to wonder if you ever fact check before posting your accusations.

    Here's some facts for you

Yesterday NY had 42 deaths and out of control Florida had 35.
NY's death rate per million population is 1668 and Florida's is 199. NY is over 9 times as high as Florida
NY, NJ and Mass have over 40% of the deaths in the country
Add in Ill and Calif and it's over 50% in just those 5 states. Politically they have a lot in common

You like to pull stuff out of your @$$ without verification.

New York's deaths from Covid on July 5th thru July 12th:
    5th - 9 6th - 11 7th - 20 8th - 15 9th - 8 10th - 7 11th - 5 12th - 19 8 day total = 94 deaths

    Florida death's July 5th thru 12th:
    5th - 29 6th - 47 7th - 63 8th - 48 9th - 120 10th - 93 11th - 95 12th - 45 8 day total = 540 deaths

Add in 35 for Fla yesterday and Fla has 575 deaths over the past 9 days
Add in 42 for NY yesterday and NY has 136 deaths over the past 9 days

So Bill.... I'm going to try and be nice but which state is having more of an issue with Covid deaths recently would you say?
New York has around 3500 new cases in that time whereas Florida has over 70,000 new cases in that time.
Having spent so much time in the NYC area and experiencing first hand the crowded conditions I am amazed actually that NY has been able to flatten their curve to this point and I'm not surprised at all that Florida has exploded like a nuclear mushroom cloud.
Different approach to the virus by two sets of state leaders and one population taking it seriously and the other not giving a f@@k.

Recently more in Florida but Florida still ranks well below the average deaths per million while NY is right at the top with NJ. And the deaths over the last 9 days is miles below the deaths at those other two states earlier. Florida is much safer than NY or NJ then and now.

How long do you think it would take Florida to catch NY with the difference in their rates now?

"Florida is much safer than NY or NJ then and now."
    How do you figure?
Florida over the past two weeks is way out of control with new case rates and is setting almost daily records that shatter any that NY had back in April.
Deaths in Fla may not be what NY had in April but obviously your chances of contracting fatal Covid are much higher now in Florida than in NY. And your chances of contracting the virus here in this poorly run state with regard to Covid-19 are about as high as anywhere in the entire world.
Unfortunate addition to my post on Covid deaths in Florida:
And, on Tuesday, Florida announced 132 new deaths from coronavirus, its highest single-day total to date.

Because I believe that the death rate is much more important than the number of cases. Most rational people would have expected NY's rate to drop as will Florida's soon. I don't like the new case rate in Florida, but the death rate remains very small and it would take a very long time for it to ever reach NY's record. And I also believe that living in Florida beats living in NY for lots of reasons.

A better question might be if you think NY is doing so much better than Florida why don't you move there?

Your absolute bias continues to astound and I am not sure why I am not living up to my not communicating with you, which is kind of hopeless with your bias.

Not giving a f@@k is another example of your biased hyperbole.

I would opine that NY NEVER flattened their curve but went through it and like all out-of-control viral epidemics it is showing that it has run it's course. States that flattened the curve are now going through what was originally predicted.
