More thoughts on the time situation.

Tom's post got me to thinking (rationalizing) about the whole situation.

    1. Clock is adjusted in the games, but it is adjusted not because the clock isn't keeping time correctly but because the clock operator stops it too soon or not soon enough. Then the officals correct the clock.

    2. If the offical signals the ball ready to play then you have to assume that the clock is correct at the snap of the ball....that is the officals watch and the stadium clock are the same.

    3. So syncing the stadium clock with the play is legitmate way to tell what happened and by rule is legal. Clearly the ball touched and object before it went to 0:00 so the right call was there was 1 second on the clock. Kick good Texas wins. It would have been unfair to Texas to not have allowed the review of the play to determine if the ball had touched an object before time expired.

    4. Colt and the entire staff were doufuses on that play. 1) Mack had a timeout he could have called 2) he should have instructed and his 5th year sr qB should have known the time situation and that if nothing was open to throw the ball away quickly. 3) he should have known the rule that the ball has to hit something out of bounds before the clock stops.

But while I agree it was a tough loss for a guttty Neb team to take, to not have given Texas that review would have given them an undeserved win. It would have been like giving Colorado that 5th down.
