Actually, Ty is a good coach, just not good enough for ND as it turned out. Aren't the expectations at UW pretty low because of NCAA penalties, etc.? If so, they can't be terribly unhappy if he is 4-6 with a couple of close losses, including USC. Granted, the Stanford loss is pretty humiliating, but on balance I don't think he's doing too bad there in his 2nd year.

That said, I'm on the same wagon as Gip regarding the idiotic media bashing of ND on the issue of TW. That's a whole different conversation.

Well since this has devolved into a Willingham topic. I don't think he's a coach who is going to ever have an elite program, he's not a particularily great recruiter, he's was neither an offensive or defensive coordinator, his highest position was RB coach before head coach. I don't think it matters wheter he is at USC, Texas, Ohio State, Michigan, Fla, or OU, he will be a coach who can have a good season every few years and that's about it. Now at UW they have high expectations, before the PAC10 deep sixed Don James the Huskies were a program to be feared, the UW people haven't forgotten nor have they lowered expectations.

But things at UW stunk so bad after they sold their souls to Slick Rick that they needed somebody to at least restore the credibility of the program and having TW will do that, and you have to say that he took over a program at the bottom. He will need 5 years just to get them back to where he had Stanford before he left, then they can fire him and they probably will because just being competitive most years isn't what UW alums want.

    a few things

<t>I am terribly sorry to hear of Colt McCoy's injury. Aside from that terrible damned name, I really like that kid and I hate to see a team go out when their best player goes down with an injury<br/>

On Ty, if you've been to the UW (pronounced ewDub) boards, you will see that the villagers are gathering around the castle with torches.<br/>

Expectations at Washington were never low. They were adjusted due to the problems handed to the new staff, but not that low enough to make getting your ass kicked by the worst stanford team in the last 30 years acceptable.</t>

It's being reported as a neck stinger..ie pinched nerve. It's possible he could play against A&M.

I stand corrected re: expectations at UW. Terry and Corey are infinitely more aware than I of what's going on in the world of college football. If they say TW is already skating on this ice, I must believe it.

Glad to hear the QB's injury is not serious.
