Scott, if the Aggies would come to the SEC if invited and it doesn't work out then what we have been hearing about our commissioner being prepared for when all this breaks would be wrong. If the Aggies truly want to come and the SEC doesn't move fast enough then that's just plain bad on our part. You guys would be a real asset to our conference. Here's hoping.
Scott I dedicate this you and the Aggies from the Longhorns...beware of the SEC!! <object width="480" height="385"><param name="movie" value="http://www.youtube.com/v/3lvBfs7DoLI&hl=en_US&fs=1&"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="http://www.youtube.com/v/3lvBfs7DoLI&hl=en_US&fs=1&" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="480" height="385"></embed></object>
A friend's brother who lives in Atlanta said the radio show there announced that A&M and Va Tech are receiving offers to join the SEC. We'll see if it has legs...
Terry, Deloss has threatened never to play A&M again if we split off... What the heck is that about? Why is Texas so hell-bent on keeping A&M with them? Hmmm... It almost seems like a little bit of... fear. Perhaps someone is seeing how the recruiting dynamic of the state could be changed by A&M being in the SEC? "Son... do you want to go out west where your friends and folks can see you play Stanford on TV at 11pm... or do you want them to see you play Florida or Alabama, or LSU in prime time? Heck, they can even drive to the game and see it in person!"
In a 16 team conference playing 7 division games plus I assume 3 cross over games doesn't leave much room for out of conference games. But I have definitely seen a lot of sentiment amongst some Texas fans that if A&M goes to the SEC then it's sayanora for scheduling them.
Geez! Have you read all the "suggestions" that we should just add TCU, and Houston to replace CU, and NU??? These idiots have no clue what is driving the current wave, and obviously don't remember what broke up the SWC in the first place. I'm very irritated that the Legislature is again likely to stick it's nose in our business. They "forced" Baylor and Tech on us in '94, and now they are trying to "help" determine where we go. BUTT OUT! I'm hearing right now the A&M BOR is 60-40 for the PAC move, but Gene Stallings is lobbying hard for the SEC. The question is: Does the SEC want to expand, or wait?
To be honest I would love to have Texas AM and Texas but my vote right now is for the SEC to sit tight. I don't see why we need to change anything at least until somebody wants to leave the conference and I have not heard any rumblings of that yet.
