Ole Miss NCAA investigation is expanding. They are talking to players at other SEC schools who were recruited by Ole Miss.

I wonder how long this will drag out, remember they still aren't done with the UNC investigation that has been dragging out for years.

kp, is Blake Barnett moving down the depth chart at Alabama? Is there any notion among Alabama fans as to who is likely to start against USC?

Terry, if Hurts wasn't a true freshman, I think he would have the job, but because he is I think Bateman may be the guy. Who knows though, with Saban you never know.

Yeah these kids are so stupid, and you'd like to see the guy who owns the rental agency suffer some consequences.... Like fans shunning his business.

I always think that's the best way to get back at those people who cause these situations. Black ball them from the community financially.

So some Auburn kid decides to out stupid everybody.

    1. unlicensed Handgun
    2. apparently he wasn't the driver, but the driver failed to obey all traffic laws.
    3. kid with unlicensed gun decides to see if he can out run the law...has he never seen an episode of cops? Damn, these kids should be forced to watch at least 4 hours straight of copes...then they wouldn't think they can out run the cops. He didn't get very far.

And the FSU Strenght and Conditioning Coach got a DUI last night.

There's the icing... when the coaches start getting pinched, it's time to kick off.

We ought to call that the Eric Bienemy award. The coach who gets busted (usually for DUI) right before the start of football and serves as the final volley in a series of off-season disasters.

Torrance Gibson, Ohio State WR suspended for the semester. No explanation given beyond violation of student code of conduct.

Was he expected to contribute Don?

    Terry,

That really is an unknown at this point. He was progressing but I think about five receivers are ahead of him. Coach Meyer has publicly disagreed with the suspension.

We will probably;y never know what happened.

Yes...UM stated that it was neither an athletic department nor a football issue/suspension. It was for university code of conduct violation and UM did not agree with it. And yes, it sounds like we will never know.

On the other hand Florida announced this week that what is the equivalent of Percy Harvin would be eligible to play this Saturday.... Antonio Callaway.

He was also accused of violating student code of conduct and even though it was all thrown out weeks ago the University has been very slow to reinstate him until last Friday.

This guy is hugely important to what could be an improved UF offense this season.

There certainly was some controversy over the Callaway deal, the guy who heard his Title IX case was a Gator Grad and Booster. His accuser and her attny were incensed that UF wouldn't appoint a neutral person to moderate the hearing and didn't bother to even attend. After the Baylor mess, you would think UF would have gone with a neutral person over a Booster.

Now that Booster might be the fairest person in the world, but he's still a Gator Booster and it cast's doubt on his decision.

So in a way this smacks of the same thing that FSU did to make sure Jameis Winston got off on his sexual assault hearing. Simply appointing a completely neutral person with no ties to UF or UF football would have taken care of that.

Of course it's certainly possible that the ruling was correct and that Callaway did nothing wrong. I think the girl is going forward with her case in another way, so it's not over for him.

A significant point in the Callaway case came when University police made the statement that there was nothing to prosecute.

And no one bust the balls of Gator players whenever they get the chance more than the UPD.

Assuming that there is in fact nothing to prosecute, this type of thing is so sad as sexual assault on campuses around the country is a serious problem and one that frequently ignored as in the Baylor cases or covered up or the victim is afraid of the publicity. So if some person is crying wolf to get back at somebody who she has regrets the next day at what she did the night before that just makes it harder for the legitimate complaints to be taken seriously.

    I absolutely agree.

As someone... probably a student said on a forum about this case people get drunk in Gainesville and have sex probably 5,000 times each night.

So if Callaway had sex.... if he even had sex while impaired as did his partner.... this is going on all the time.

That's how I experienced Gainesville in the free love 70s.... but once when a girl I had previous relations with and who was grabbing at my crotch through a drunk dinner with friends passed out later and couldn't wake up easily to finish what she started I respectfully left her alone and went to sleep myself and did nothing. It's a matter of human decency but when everyone is drinking etc. intentions can be quite confusing.

Once though I did have a rather large girl who had been unsuccessfully hitting on me for weeks and who lived a few apartments down talk me into my first lude and ply me with beer and a fat joint and before you know it she had seduced me right into the sack.

I shoulda sued that bitch.....  8)
