Don, that 1st poll was Oct 19th, 1936. I wonder if this is going to be a growing trend or just a statistical anomaly? Participation in HS football is down 3.5% ...kids/parents worried about concussions? http://www.latimes.com/sports/highschool/la-sp-vi-football-participation-20160804-snap-story.html
Me too a little but since both became more prominent... UF in the 70s and FSU in the 80s they have been almost interchangeable in the rankings. Prior to that in the 60s and before both teams didn't make much of an impact. If this was the AP since 1980 both would probably be top 5.
Coaches Poll is out.. Alabama is #1 with Clemson #2 Skybox teams Ohio State #5 Michigan #8 ND #9 Tenn #10 UCLA #24 Fla #25 Miami,Wash State, A&M, Texas and Neb are in the "others receiving votes" category. http://sportspolls.usatoday.com/ncaa/football/polls/coaches-poll/
The decrease in players in high school football is not surprising to me. Football injuries are being analyzed more now by parents and I expect the trend to continue. Football may not be as attractive in the future, as we have seen in the past. I will not live to see it, but soccer may be the most attractive sport for the upcoming youngsters?
Well we have 12 teams represented here so it might be a tight fit to get them all in the top 10. I vote we leave out Michigan and A&M!
I vote we leave out L$U, even if they don't have a rep here! I won't have to vote against that school to the west... they will be exposed as no threat after game 1.

One of the great Bowl games ever.... But it seems like at one time this was just another Holiday Bowl, they were all big offensive shootouts. Eric Dickerson, Craig James, Jim McMahon... <iframe width="420" height="315" src="https://www.youtube.com/embed/b55Tn_YbLK8" frameborder="0"></iframe>
 The craziest miracle I've ever seen was last year when Michigan State beat Michigan on the last play. The Spartans still can't explain how they did it.
Fall camp for the Buckeyes commences this morning at 8:25 for freshman and red shirts. Returning players will report at 3:25 this afternoon. A number of position battles will determine the new starters. Should be an interesting camp for players and a nightmare for Coach Meyer!
And isn't that nice Don, it's been a long summer without college ball and now it's begun again...Miami's fall practice started last Thursday for all players, the annual endurance test against the elements...
Texas has closed all practices to the fans and the media for the rest of August camp. I don't remember this ever being the case. Of course in the NFL this would never be allowed, I guess Strong feels like that with a true freshman the likely starter for the Longhorns vs Notre Dame that he doesn't want anything getting out about his progress or anything.
