If you missed the 2nd half of the TCU game you really missed something. Awesome comeback by the frogs
Don't recall ever cheering as hard for a Tenn win as I did today but I felt like they deserved a break and played hard for the win plus I never mind seeing Georgia lose....
Buckeyes win over Maryland for Homecoming game and showed a little more offense, but our defense was very porous. Of course most Ohio State fans are always critical.
Well, Tennessee pulled one out. UGA has qb troubles that were just made worse by Chubb's injury. UT better hope nothing happens to Dobbs. I think he combined for 400 yds of total yardage. Alabama also pulled one out. Alabama has qb troubles also. Coker throws 2 ints and Arkansas leads deep into the 3rd qtr. The Alabama defense saved the day and shut down Arkansas all night but we didn't really use Henry to pound the ball until we went into kill the clock mode. Texas A&M next week. :?
KP, I have to disagree with you on Dobbs. We have a very good, but young QB in Dormady. They both have their +'s and -'s. Dobbs has the ability to scramble which he needs because his passing accuracy is questionable at best. Normady has a bazooka fro an arm with smart bomb accuracy but he is a typical pro style QB that has very little ability to make a defender miss in the open field. Tennessee and Texas surprised me this week. Texas more than Tennessee. Both had much needed wins this week.
Thanks to the BYE week, I actually got to watch some ball yesterday. That Red River Meeting was more like a slap fight between ugly sisters. Geez... if I didn't dislike both of them so much it would have been painful, but I found it mostly funny. Mark Richt has built up a bunch of talent again... but the sum of the parts is actually less than it should be. How long do they keep him? Florida beats Mizzou in a kind of ugly game. The Fish QB wasn't ready to face a real defense so as long as UF got a few points they were safe. Michigan costs me a dollar by scoring on defense and special teams! (I took the under) Dirty Wolverweasles! Bama has a WHOLE LOT OF run defense... and a steam engine to tote the rock. And they still have Coker to "Manage" the offense. Myles Garrett is waiting to meet him. I pray Jake Spavital watched this game and realized... "maybe we don't want to establish the run this time"... Utah wins a semi shootout with Cal although with all the turnovers it's hard to figure out who was shooting at who. AND FINALLY... Kesley's Coogs beat Oregon in double OT. After the game, they tweeted an EPIC tweet! (not sure some of you will get it)
Tom, If you've got another qb that can throw for 300 yds and run for over 100 then you need to find a way to get him in the game. Alabama's qb can't do either one.
Oregon Trail was pretty popular back in Kes's youth. 8) Also starting to be rumors that Steve Sarkisian has fallen of the wagon badly. May be headed to rehab.
Still digesting the weekend. I didn't stay up to watch much of the Utah/CAL game but there were a lot of turnovers by CAL, 6 in fact and they still had a chance to win at the end. The Utes are the last unbeaten team in the Pac12. There is a lot of football left to play though, I would be shocked if they make it through unbeaten. Could happen of course. Longhorn win over OU, was just so huge for this program. Before the game everybody, myself included, thought OU would punish us another TCU like outcome. Looking at the schedule I was thinking other than Kansas and maybe Iowa State we're not winning another game. Now I think if this was some sort of lucky win, that we can win a few more games. I don't think we'll have a shot at Baylor but the rest of the teams on the schedule don't look nearly as daunting. Maybe we can get to 6-6, 7-5. It had to help recruiting as well. Vol win over Georgia was only slightly less shocking than the Texas win. I really thought the Vols would be taking on a wounded and dangerous Dawg in Georgia. I thought Georgia would come in a just run them over. I don't know how much the loss of Chubb hurt, they have a deep stable of RB's. But the Georgia QB is suddenly looking pretty average. Just a couple of weeks ago he was being praised for his NCAA record completion percentage. How did he lose that job at UVA! Not anymore, QB has to be a concern for UGA. Vols like Texas were looking at possibly a bleak year and wondering what might have been had they been able to hold on vs UF and OU. But whole outlook is different now. Alabama vs Ark: Tide defense certainly looks awesome, not sure what is going on with the offense at Alabama. Is it Kiffen? They have a roster full of highly recruited QB's so why are they not better at QB? But right now I'd say the Tide look very dominant in the right place ...defense. Playoffs? Really there is no team that is clearly great in all phases? Ohio State keeps winning, Alabama strong on defense, Clemson and FSU undefeated but they play later this year. Texas A&M undefeated. I don't really know how this might all shake out. I do know that even though TCU and Baylor look so awesome on offense, and either of them could go undefeated, but I think there lack of a dominant defense will hurt them if they make the playoffs. I'd rather be Alabama with a dominant defense. Of course last year Ohio State was good on both sides of the ball when they got to the playoffs. Right now nobody looks good on both sides of the ball.
First time I have ever seen a coach "flop" to draw a penalty. Guess Bielema must be soccer fan  http://www.al.com/alabamafootball/index.ssf/2015/10/new_video_shows_bret_beliema_i.html
hmm I don't get it, the boss Hog went on to the field to get in the middle of that and stumbled just a little and that gets the Alabama kid a penalty? That was nothing, I mean it's not Duke! BTW Bobda, you have to be feeling pretty good about Harbaugh and the program right now. 3 straight shutouts. This next game will be pretty interesting, and by that I mean the interaction between Harbaugh and Dantonio after the game. :?
uh oh....Twitter is blowing up with the Gators reportedly going to suspend Will Grier for the rest of the season for a violation of NCAA rules. PED's.
During the Rich Rod and Hoke eras, we had several seasons we we got off to a fast start but then got punched out by the Spartys so I still a little cautious about becoming euphoric. MSU is pretty beat up right now but Dantonio, like his sweater vested mentor, has beat our ass too many times to be overlooked. But, I am very optimistic about this wekend and our prospects for the season and future. I have not seen a Michigan team play with this type of discipline and control since the Bo era. Our total skill level is not at the level of OSU and Alabama. However, so far on the field, M does not self destruct with dumb penalties and looks completely prepared for what other teams throw at them. Harbaugh may be a wild hare but he definitely has turned things around.
Press conference at 2:30... Supposedly some over-the -counter drug. Season has been reduced from championship hopes to Outback Bowl hopes.
TOK, Harbaugh, like his mentors Bo and Ditka, will go red faced on officals all game long. But, so far, he seems to be their polar opposite re his interaction with his players at game time and in press conferences. So far, I have not seem him really get in the grill of any player on the sidelines after a mistake and he goes out of his way at press conferences to avoid criticizing individual players. So far the whip hand is only used in private...
I wasn't thinking of players, I was thinking of his now famous "What's your deal" encounter with Pete Carrol at USC and with some Detroit Lion coach after one game in the NFL. It does seem like he wore on the NFL players at S.F., but I don't think he'll have the same impact on college players, one thing is that there is double the number of players on a college squad and they also move on after 3 or 4 years in most cases. As far as I know he got on well with the players when he was at Stanford.
Grier apparently took some over the counter supplement last summer without checking with the UF training staff. UF is appealing the NCAA suspension but if not overturned I just don't have faith in Treon Harris to protect the ball and make those clutch throws that Grier was making. We're not Ohio State circa 2014 at the Qb position. Fun ride while it lasted.
That's too bad, he's not the first guy to get caught with this, happens in the NFL as well. Players are all told, do not take any supplement that has not been approved by the NFL, and there is a huge catalog of supplements for players that are approved and won't get you in trouble. Yet for some reason players will ignore that and take something that some friend told them about and shockingly that turn out to include banned substances. Gee you're making millions yet you can't bother to check with the training staff of your team before going to GNC? Actually I don't usually believe the player when they act all contrite and say they didn't know, they thought it was ok, etc. I absolutely believe that what happens is somebody tells them this supplement is the bomb and it can't be detected by PED tests, take it man you'll be stronger faster etc. So they take it, then act so shocked that it was banned.
