While it's different for every team, the Irish were definitely rusty comming off a combo of a bye and a postponed game
Meh... Defense played well... A win after that offensive performance is a relief. Thank God I decided to watch this one from my couch.
At least your Aggies were able to play and to win a real plus. I would gladly trade with you Scott. Yesterday was a very long day for me. Saturdays without Ohio State football are rather boring.
Alabama has a surprisingly easy day against Auburn. When Alabama win, there is usually a penalty that was a bad call or one that wasn't called, or the lights at the stadium were too bright or not bright enough or some excuse for why Auburn lost. With yesterday's performance, I wonder what it will be this year?
That they got the stuffing beat out of them. I want my Gators to win our next game with Tennessee and lock up the East and sit up a game with Bama. However my current expectation is that we don't have much of a chance. But we need that opportunity to keep moving in the direction we want to go.
Bill, I think that no matter what happens this post-season there will always be the "wasn't that the Covid flu season?" type of comment attached to the results. Having said that, we just need to keep playing and trying to win the next game. I too look forward to the rest of the season and meeting Florida in the SECC game should be a treat.
Bill,kp ...I fully expect the Fla/Alabama game to be a combined of almost 100 points. I don't think the Tide defense can hold Trask/Pitts under 40 and the Tide should easily put up 40+
That was the real decider for me Terry. The forecast all week had been 100% chance of cold rain. In my younger days, I never considered not going. This time... eh... couch was the winner! RE: Bama... I sure hope Waddle gets back. It's not fair that my team had to face the full fury of that ridiculous WR corps, and other teams don't!
IU in the midst of a great season, has a question mark now with the injury yesterday to Michael Penix their QB who has been so good this season. They ended up with the win, but that has to be a bit of a problem going forward if he can't play. Also I saw that Santa Clara County where San Jose State, Stanford and the 49ners live...has banned contact sports including practices. So where will Stanford go to practice and play their games? Nevada? Or will they throw in the towel and abandon the season?
Texas starting OT, Sam Cosmi, has opted out of the rest of the season for the Longhorns. The Inside Texas mods expect a few more players to do the same thing. I think this is a terrible trend in college football, started a few years ago when players decided to not play in bowl games. I'm less upset about players who opted out of the whole season before it began, but to opt out now with games remaining on the schedule is just flat out quitting on your team. I can't think of their names but other players have started to opt out around the country when their teams have nothing left to play for this season. Troubling.
kp, from what I've seen they do. And that's total crap. If you wanted to opt out... do it at the beginning.
Semester is over at Texas so it doesn't matter, and a lot of players don't enroll for the Spring so that they can prepare for the NFL combine/draft. So for him as I said it doesn't matter.
I think that is a Covid Season rule, to prevent teams from pressuring players to play when they and their families fear covid. So they could opt out before the season and stay on scholarship and play in 2021. But this end of season quitting on your team is BS.
One of yesterdays..OMG did he just do that was in the Syracuse Game with NC State. With time running out and having just taken a sack and no timeouts, 4th and goal down 7 points from the 11 yd line , the Syracuse QB hustles with his team to lineup for that final attempt at a score to tie the game and send it to OT...does he make the throw? NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO he doesn't realize it's 4th down and he spikes the ball to stop the clock!!!!
Dino Barbers was a good story for a few years, but this year has been a disaster for him. I like him and hope Syracuse doesn't over react and let him go. Speaking of letting go, Vanderbilt fired Derek Mason today, ND fans fear that they could lose DCoord Clark Lea to Vanderbilt as he is a graduate. IMHO he'd be foolish to take the job, it's a career killer. You might point to James Franklin, but if I remember correctly the SEC East was pretty weak when he was having some success at Vanderbilt.
