KP, I'm glad you feel that way. I was paraphrasing Greg McElroy. To quote him, "There are only two teams in the country I could see having any shot at competing with Alabama. One is Clemson and the other is maybe Oklahoma who could play a track meet type of game." I don't set the pins, I just knock them down. I agree, it's utter ********. You're one rogue hit to Tua's knee away from being a very different team albeit still a damned great one.
Corey, Hurts has played much better this whole season. I think he has learned a lot from Tua. Still the difference is.our defense is not as good as in the past so they would have to step it up one more notch if Tagavolua were to get hurt.
KP, You guys are still more than capable of winning an NC with your backup. That really says something for your program.
Saban really handled the Tua/Jalen thing about as good as anybody I've ever seen. Jalen clearly is not as good as Tua, but still he's not chopped liver. I think he's only lost 2 games as a starter for the Tide, that game to Auburn last year and the Nat'l Title game to Clemson and Deshaun Watson in 2016. So sure he's a backup, but one with a ton of experience and Saban has been smart to play him in every game this year so that he stays sharp and ready if something happens to Tua.
We have an Aggie on our site who's son is the starting center at Maryland. They say EVERY accusation against Durkin is true, and that he has basically said whatever it takes to keep his job. That program is about to totally implode.
We are going to the Florida - Missouri game this week, the second of three games we are attending with S. Carolina coming up next weekend. Hope they turn out better than the Georgia game. Interesting note about the SEC East, 5 of the top 11 are from the SEC and the SEC East has three of them. Georgia, Kentucky and Florida. Seems the East is coming back a bit. I see Alabama over LSU, Georgia over Kentucky handily and the Gators over Mizzou.
What a cluster. UMd could have avoided the $5m buyout of durkin by firing for cause as a result of the report. Right or wrong, it would have stuck. Instead, the board reinstated him, basically saying it was everyone but durkin that was responsible. After the predictable outrage, durkin is NOW fired, and i am assuming, now on the hook for the $5m because of the language used in defending him. And these institutions are supposed to be educating our youth. We are f***ed.
Fiscal irresponsibility by an Athletic Dept is hardly the biggest concern I have with our universities...
UCF wins 21 games in a row over the Temple Owl last night 52-40. A lot of offense from both teams. Fun game to watch.
Well tomorrow we find out. To.all of the naysayers,we should know after the LSU game if Alabama is for real. We have already soundly defeated #20, tomorrow we play #3and the following week we play #18. Those are the current CFP standings. Should be fun.
Kp, your game with LSU is going to be on my watch list! I really do not think you will lose this away game, but I am very interested to see how Joe Burrow, our ex-backup QB reacts to the type of pressure that will be forthcoming from Alabama. Joe is a solid player and does not rattle too easily.
Florida beat LSU because of all the pressure they brought on Burrow.... it was the chief reason the Gators won. It was also the chief reason that Georgia beat the Gators last Sat.... because UF couldn't seem to get to Fromm even though Ga. has had issues protecting the Qb this year. Couldn't understand why the difference in the UF pass rush from LSU to Ga.
This is turning into one of those 'damn it, I knew it!' weeks in the pick em contest. Missou blowing out Florida. Auburn is always an inexplicable haunted house come November. Every game that gave me pause, is turning out to be what I feared.
