Well another Sr. Graduate Transfer will start at QB in college this weekend. Everett Golson...ND transfer to start at FSU Vernon Adams...E.Wash transfer to start at Oregon Greyson Lambert ..UVa transfer to start at Georgia.
If Jake Rudock starts for Michigan at Utah then that's a 4th Graduate transfer starter, he started for Iowa last year. Shane Morris could also start for the Wolverines, Harbaugh isn't saying. BTW: Has Urban Meyer named a starter for Va.Tech yet? How about Nick Saban has he and/or Kiffin named a starter for the Tide vs Wisconsin?
A couple of interesting articles here: https://www.campusrush.com/notre-dame-college-football-playoff-texas-charlie-strong-1324762670.html 1. What ND making the playoffs will do, the article says it will force the playoffs to expand to 8 teams, as the Power 5 would not be able to accept that 2 conf champions would be left out. I'm not sure about that, I've heard the chairman of the CFB playoff committee several times once on XM Radio's College Football show and once when he was interviewed here on local radio. In both instances he said absolutely no expansion to 8 teams during the term of the contract. He believes 4 teams is the right number no matter who those 4 teams are. 2. Charlie Strong and Texas HS football coaches. Good article on how Charlie is working to get to know the HS coaches in Texas and dispell the belief that he is an aloof outsider.
I said "against great opponents", not Auburn and we didn't have a great defense last year and alas, we didn't win the national championship last year either. Stu, Don, I've said it before, when you're no. 1, everyone you play lowers your strength of schedule. Terry, no starting qb named for Alabama yet.
Can we please stop talking about Notre Dame making the playoffs? The season hasn't begun. As of today, every team is on equal footing. This pre-season chatter is making the SI jinx look like a blessing.
Sid, You are absolutely correct! Notre Dame does not stand much of a chance reaching the playoffs until they expand to eight teams. That will be quite a while down the road. Make you feel better now?
Yes, Don. We don't need to associate ND's name with the playoffs before we've even taken the field for the first game. We need a season-long chip on our shoulder to provide 12 weeks of incentive to prove doubters like you wrong. (Thanks for being my straight man. )
Bill, I think we are in one of those cycle situations, where Florida had their great run with Meyer and now it's Ohio State turn at the helm.
KP... that 61-60 reference was a dig at Auburn's coach Malzahn for making that "we shoulda scored 60 on 'em statement." He'll probably need three games to score 60 on Bama now after such a boneheaded declaration.
Bad week for the Huskers so far, Lawrence Phillips indicted for murder and the stadium announcer who was newly hired and quickly fired when somebody dug up a facebook post he made last year when Pellini was fired that was highly critical of the Neb Administration. Gotta watch what you paste on Facebook.
Don't forget that Coach Riley is being sued as part of a rape case while at OSU.....from 1999......all the week of the first game....interesting......
I saw that on Riley, a very strange deal. The coach at Oregon State at the time of the incident was Dennis Erickson and he's not named in the suit. The young lady who was sexually assaulted by the transfer from Boise State, has retained a Lawyer and is going to sue Baylor on Title IX violations. That's what Jameis Winston's victim tried to do but was unsuccessful. But in this case her attacker was convicted in a court, where as Winston was not.
Dang rougher start at Rutgers... http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13572257/rutgers-coach-kyle-flood-says-coach-team-season-opener
USAToday football writers picked the top 25 games this weekend...only 1 guy picked an upset...Wolken picked Northwestern to beat Stanford. http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/13572257/rutgers-coach-kyle-flood-says-coach-team-season-opener
South Carolina and North Carolina looked like crap. 2 very bad qb's and offenses. Utah and Michigan - Utah moving the ball pretty well. Harbaugh has a big job if he is going to be able to compete with Meyer. TCU having trouble scoring on Minnesota, at least in the first half.
Well, I thought the team played with more heart, poise and discipline than the M teams of the past few years but still seems we are thin re top shelf talent.
Bobda, I think you will see a big difference once that 2016 class is assembled and can contribute. Don
