I'd seen that picture earlier... it just proves to me that there is some chemistry going on around campus!!
This is a good article on Nick Saban. He's a coach I used to hate (not really) and root against. But over time I've come to admire his tremendous ability to build and maintain a program. Sure he's got unlimited resources, it reminds me when the guy who owned the Redskins when George Allen was the HC , who said he gave Allen and unlimited budget and he exceeded it. But still this is a pretty good read, IMHO. http://www.espn.com/college-sports/story/_/id/24273997/alabama-nick-saban-more-scowl
AP top 25 is out. No surprise that Alabama tops the poll. Pre-Season AA teams are coming out, Will Grier of WVA and Trace McSorely of Penn State are the top 2 QB's. Bryce Love is the clear leader amongst the RB's. Ed Oliver DT from UofH is getting a lot of publicity as the best football player in America. Alabama and Wisconsin dominate the OL. Michigan dominates the 1st team defense. https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaaf/2018/08/21/usa-today-sports-college-football-preseason-all-america-team/979463002/ Love is also the leader in the Heisman Race. Irish have not a single player getting any love for pre-season AA. Neither does Texas. Michigan has (surprise surprise) designated Shea Patterson as the starter for Notre Dame. Texas has designated Sam Ehlinger as the starter for Maryland, not really a big surprise as he's the type of QB that Herman likes a physical player where Shane Beuchele is a terrific passer but slight of body and can't really take the pounding that the Herman offense puts on the QB. No word out of Tuscaloosa about the QB situation. In an article on ESPN where they re-rank the top 25 of the ESPN 300 from the class of 2016, they moved Jalen Hurts from unranked in the top 300 to #21. Bet he doesn't start the 1st game though. I have seen Tua on every Heisman list though, all off of 1 half of one football game.
I guess I can't read, Irish OL's Alex Bars and Sam Mustipher along with CB Julian Love all made the 2nd team AP All American squad.
Apparently Hurts had a very good scrimmage last week. Most folks seem to agree that Tagavolua is ahead for the starting spot but it's not a done deal. Defensive secondary is our big concern.
Florida plays 4 members of the top 25 plus #26 SouCar and yet I consider this year's UF schedule to be a fairly easy one.
Well the season is on us, there will be games this Sat, not any big games but there will be games. Then Thur Aug 30th there a quite a few games, including Texas A&M vs a non-conf cookie, and a B1G game Purdue v Northwestern. More games on Friday Aug 31st including Colorada v Colorado State. I wonder if CSU HC Keith Bobo will be able to coach, he's been in the hospital with a neurologic problem with his feet. Sat Sept 1 it's game on, the full Monty.
