A couple of other things.. 1. I listened to the Alabama start LT, Jonah Williams on ESPNU. It was an interview conducted during their Spring Tour a while ago so it's not new. But what a great interview. He was very well spoken and a great interview. Everything about his responses to the questions was so smooth and came across so well. Great young man. I know there are kids like him all over college football, last year Irish OL Mike McGlinchey also had that same presentation when interviewing. It's refreshing to hear kids sounding mature and not throwing out a bunch of rap terms, or slang. 2. Lincoln Riley took a poke at SEC defenses. He said that Georgia who he acknowledged had a dominant year on defense against their schedule, but that if they played against B12 offenses every week they wouldn't have had the numbers to be a top 5 defense like they did against their schedule.
I wonder if Oklahoma's offense would have been as impressive if they had to to play SEC defenses instead of Big 12 defenses?
He justified his comment by saying that he thought the Rose Bowl which was more like a typical B12 game than a SEC game ...his b12 offense ran over around and under a top 5 SEC defense. He also said that Ohio State had a stout defense and OU put up a lot of points on the road against them. Basically he felt like since they put up 40-50 points on two very stout defenses that was his reasoning that those teams if they played B12 offenses every week wouldn't have those guady stats. So he wants people to take that into account when criticising b12 defenses. Of course he didn't mention that OU was an offensive juggernaut with Baker Mayfield and good skill players. Anyway he stirred some comments. Sort of like Les Miles did that year when he made some comments about Pac12 defenses.
Ah, talk is cheap. If you can't get into the playoffs then run your mouth. I still have the smilie face in my signature.
Gators still waiting for word on two transfers, both receivers. Van Jefferson from Ole Miss and Grimes from Ohio State. Grimes is looking to be able to play closer to home because his mother has been sick. To the best of my knowledge neither has been cleared yet but Gator fans are optimistic, at least hopeful, both will be able to play this season. We need them.
My understanding is that all the Ole Miss transfers that were freshmen were approved but our guy will be a junior and I am don't think he has been officially approved. But Gator fans are optimistic on both guys.
If they approved Shea Patterson to Michigan I don't see how they could deny Jefferson. They are in the same class. I wonder what the hold up could be for him.
Been somewhat of a quiet summer on the football side. Nick Saban dismissed a player, who was involved in a bar fight. Va. Tech has dismissed a DB but I don't see the reason, they also have a DB who was declared academically ineligible for the 2018 season. Irish have finally parted company with several players, one (C J Jones) who was involved in shop lifting with another player (Kevin Stepherson) who is also gone. A third player Deion McIntosh is gone as well, he did something during the bowl game and was sent home, he's been off the team since then. Jones is going to walk on at Penn State. I don't think Texas has had anybody arrested or involved in bar fight or girlfriend assault. So at the moment we're good in Austin.
Yeah it's been a slow year for the Fulmer Cup, but there's still team. The dog days of late July and early August are what get ya.
Tide lost another player, this time to injury. LB Terrell Lewis who missed a lot of last year as well tore his ACL. Irish also parted company with recent verbal TJ Sheffield a WR from Tenn.
The dismissed player and the injured player were both up and coming linebackers. We went through a rash of losses at linebacker last year too.
Bill has already noted that some UF fans aren't happy with the direction of recruiting so far with Mullen. So how about UCLA recruiting with Chip Kelly, most teams have at least 10 players, UCLA sitting right below Tulsa and right above James Madison with 4 verbals and all of them 3 star players.

That is interesting. Not a surprise that the Tide lead the way followed by Ohio State. To me the surprise is that the B10 has 4 of the top 10 non-SEC teams, followed by 2 ACC teams, 2 B12 teams and 1 Pac12 team and Notre Dame. Thanks for the link.
We are getting closer to fall football folks. I see where the SEC Media days are being held in Atlanta this week. The Big Ten will follow in Chicago next week. Never too soon for college football during the dog days of heat in July!
