I won't be surprised if the tipping point for Foskey was a NIL deal that gets him a million dollars, plus of course a big insurance policy against injury.

The University of Miami and BYU are currently under investigation by the NCAA for their NIL deals. Potential culprits should be easy to spot. Look for programs that make the biggest moves in the shortest amount of time. Using that criteria I would nominate USC as the team most likely to make a quantum leap in their fortunes in the shortest amount of time. They have the coach and the locale.

What are the rules? I thought the athletes could make however much money they could negotiate. Aren't schools coming up with stables of businesses to offer deals.to potential recruits? What crimes.are.they investigating?

From what I could determine from a very short article they do not want teams negotiating pay for play deals and these two schools are being investigated for possibly crossing those lines.

ESPN has come out with their very early rankings for 2022.

    1. Bama
    2. Ohio State
    3. Georgia
    4. Texas A&M
    5. Michigan
    6. Notre Dame

This aligns nicely with the disclosure recently that teams 1 thru 4 accounted for more than 50% of the Top 100 recruits in the recent period.

I'd say for my team's case that's ALL it's based on, and is a reach.
We have a talented roster (all of Jimbo's classes have been top 10), but the 2022 edition will be very low on experience at some key spots like QB. Even if Max Johnson wins the job, he's only started for one season.

Hey. If it's an veteran QB you need, just head to the Transfer Supermarket and shop in in the QB aisle. Instant experience. :D

I love it when we all channel our inner JO'Co. How often in the past did he begin these threads? I'm sure he, like the rest of us, would eagerly await Bobda's contributions, sometimes singular, sometimes multiple. Life on the Skybox is good, Jim, thanks to you.

Gators have moved from number 50 on 247 composite to 41. 11 Signees, enrolled and committed. Also 4 from the portal which don’t count. I look for us to get into the mid teens after the final signing days.

I am very optimistic about our new coach and how he will handle things in the future. But then I always support a new coach.

What he has done is hire an army to work behind the scenes bringing the Gators kind of up to date in this area.

Looks like Alabama, Georgia and Texas A & M are dominating recruiting in the SEC and nationally so we have our work cut out.

Same here, Bill. I've had my heart broken over the years by Jerry Faust, Bob Davie, Ty Willingham, and Charlie Weis. I sure hope it doesn't happen with Marcus Freeman.

P.S. Meant to put this in when I posted: I hope you finally have the coach who can take you back to the promised land.

Thanks, I am feeling better about our new coach every day. We now have 12 commits and 6 portal transfers committed.

Using 247 composite number both groups are jut a little under .9000. The committed number includes a kicker who is at .8003. I contend the significant number is without the kicker as all kickers are rated low and not everyone signs a kicker every year. Without the kicker our number would be a little over .9000 which is fine with me right now.

We are expecting more commitments and more transfers. I am very optimistic.

Aggies damn sure better be good, sooner rather than later.

This week, an Aggie commit who wasn’t originally a five-star prospect got the bump in 247Sports’ composite rankings. That player was Chris Marshall, a wide receiver from Missouri City, Texas.

This gives the Aggies their SEVENTH five-star prospect. For perspective, throughout the entirety of the 2010s, only 16 programs pulled in that many five-star prospects. Over a ten-year period of time. Yeah.
