WTF...#1 QB Julian Sayin who has enroled at Alabama as an EE has entered the Portal. This is just nuts. On the other hand the Top Washington QB recruit from 2023 Austin Mack is transferring to Alabama. He didn't play last year so has 4 years eligbility.

    Washington has virtually no QB's

Mack's departure adds to depth problems for new Washington coach Jedd Fisch. The Huskies have seen quarterbacks Dylan Morris, Will Haskell, Mack and incoming transfer Will Rogers all enter the transfer portal. Rogers had just joined the program this offseason, but he entered the portal again once DeBoer left for Alabama.

Fisch has an opportunity to land quarterback Demond Williams Jr., whom he just signed at Arizona in December. Williams has since entered the transfer portal and is planning to visit Washington in the near future.

Now I'm reading that Sayin is headed to Ohio State, who already has Air Noland in the 2024 class..what are the Buckeyes going to do with 2 such highly ranked QB's? Will there now be an exodus from the QB's already on the team from last year.

Who knows anymore, it's just chaos. Shouldn't be surprised with the kids interest in Columbus given his relationship with BOB, but you're right, Day has a host of issues to consider with numbers in that room and the message it might send to rest of the squad re: culture/loyalty/brotherhood, etc. He has a ton of leadership experience coming back, I would sure get their counsel

True that old friend, a first world problem to be sure.

I gotta laugh at some of the angst coming from corners of Buckeye Nation at the BOB hire. We were in need of a high quality, experienced QB coach and a OC experienced in calling plays. The greatest coach in the history of the NFL hired him not once but 2x to do both as did the greatest coach in the history of college football. Far be it from me to suggest that he's not qualified to fill those positions on our staff. To me it speaks very highly of Coach Day a) to realize he needs to relinquish those duties and 2) for BOB to want to work for him. As of now, I'm all in.....talk to me in November ;)

I just have BOB's Houston Texan tenure and I was so glad to see him leave, and he left a mess behind when he left.

I get that, I wouldn't want to hire him as the HC either, but I'm more than fine with him bringing an experienced hand at OC and what it says about Day's continued maturity/development and respect amongst his coaching peers

OK, here's the question for everybody. We currently have 4 scholarship QB's on the roster which is our desired/target complement along with a 2025 commit.

    1) Devin Brown SO (per 24/7 composite - 4* - #5 QB)
    2) Lincoln Kienholz RS FR (4* - #11 QB)
    3) Air Noland FR (5* - #4 QB) Class of 2024
    4) Will Howard 5th Year SR (transfer) (3* - #33 QB as a recruit)

    5) Tavien St. Clair 2025 Commit (4* - #4 QB) Ohio kid

We all watched the Cotton Bowl and unless the new kid is God's gift as a baby, there is no CJ Stroud walking into the facility. Along comes this kid who we recruited and tried to flip from Bama after Dylan Raiola decommitted. Word is that he has a good relationship with O'Brien and may be interested in coming to Columbus if offered.

Julian Sayin FR (5* - #1 QB) Class of 2024

Reports out of Columbus indicate that Day and the Buckeye braintrust are meeting in Columbus to decide whether or not they should pursue Sayin. What would you do and what are your primary considerations and concerns?????

You take the kid if the staff thinks he's all that he's cracked up to be and let the rest of the room sort itself out.

I'm really torn on this one....the answer is an obvious one if we didn't already have Noland in the facility. I mean we all know the rankings among the top 5 or 10 kids are very subjective. Do you risk the chemistry in the entire building by grabbing the #1 kid when you already have the #4 kid and #4 2025 kid committed - an Ohio kid to boot. You def don't want to piss off the Ohio high school coaches. Chemistry and culture can be very fragile things, alot to consider for Day and staff. Safest bet is to say we'd love to but we can't right now....but playing it safe isn't always the way to a Natty. Stay tuned....

One thing for sure is that neither Brown or Kienholz can leave till after Spring, so you'll have 4 guys for the Spring. The problem becomes when Sayin comes and it sounds like if he commits he's going to enroll and participate in the Spring. 5 guys, will likely mean Brown and/or Kienholz will get scraps in terms of reps.

He's got to give Will Howard a lot of reps to get him up to speed and it's going to be tough to figure out the reps for the other guys, again my money says the guys who have been there and not done anything to make you want them as the starter in Sept will be the guys getting the short end. So in August it could easily be Howard, Nolan and Sayin. I don't think that'll scare away your Ohio guy.

i'd say take EVERYONE... who knows what the portal exit will do to you when the smoke clears.
Of course you have to balance against the 85 total number...

So when this all began, just because a player put their hat in the portal, they weren't necessarily gone.
With roster management being the nightmare it now appears to be... do you now just CUT everyone who says they are in the portal or give them a chance to stay?

That’s a good question. There used to be a veneer of loyalty. That appears to be pretty much gone. When someone enters the portal they are just taking a slot. Pull their scholarship and try to find someone who wants it.

I have read that he committed to Alabama when BOB was the OCoord and felt really comfortable with him so no big surprise. He might feel that his relationship with him gives him a leg up over Air Noland.
