I have never thought Jimbo to be a particularly bright guy.

He just proved that thought I believe.... jeez what a dolt!

There is Steve Spurrier bravado ( when you really are that good ) and then there is just foolish boasting.... like this is.

I agree with Sid I used to love the way "woe is me Holtz" would praise the other guy before a big game then smack em around on gameday.

Vince Dooley at Georgia was the same way.... man those Gators are tough.... wow can they really play.... they are an awesome display of talent.... that he and his dawgs would beat just about every single year the asshole....

<t>On "paper"? Right. On paper we should have won about 6 more games last year. So much for "paper".</t>

ACC has made a lot of strides and Clemson and FSU are the equal of any teams in the SEC. Miami seems to headed back to being an elite level team with Mark Richt in charge.

The rest of the ACC is good but not great. Ga.Tech, UNC, Va.Tech, UVA and NCState are all potentially good programs but not every year like FSU and Clemson. WF, Syracuse, BC, etc don't seem to have much hope of upward movement.

I think the SEC has been more consistently good over the last 10 years. That can change of course and maybe the next 10 years will see the ACC match the SEC for championships. But maybe not.

No doubt though that the ACC is the premier basketball conference.

With 3 SEC teams vs. 1 for the ACC in the Elite 8 maybe the SEC is the one catching up....

    ... in basketball!

kp who was that Alabama WR who broke his leg making a spectacular catch in the endzone, I think against the Gators...has to be more than 10 years ago. If I remember he was sort of a smurf receiver. What happened to him?

Terry, it was Tyrone Prothro. He's doing okay, he graduated at Alabama with a Business degree. He wanted to get into coaching but didn't have teaching certification. I think he is now on the staff at Spanish Fort HS, while getting his certification. He wants to coach at Alabama but no luck there yet.

Terry, it was ugly. Prothro was a great athlete but he was very small so while he was a great college player, I think his pro prospects were limited. He is an Alabama favorite though.

Listening to some random stuff on XM Sports this morning on the way to work.

Miami is considered a dark horse for the Playoffs, but have OL problems, and a new QB.

FSU is considered not a lock but a contender for the Playoffs but they also have weak OL.

Clemson is considered not a lock but a contender for the Playoffs because they have great OL and DL coming back, but a new QB.

NCState is considered a Dark Horse because they have one of the best Front 7's coming back and they have a returning starter at QB who they think is really good.

Ohio State is considered a Lock, Penn State and Wisconsin contenders

Alabama is considered a Lock no other SEC considered a contender.

Washington and USC are considered the contenders from the Pac 12, Washington more so than USC.

OU and OK State considered contenders.

Line play on both sides seemed to be the biggest factors along with returning starter at QB.

Ohio State announces fall camp to commence on July 27. A bit early this year due to our early game with Indiana in Bloomington on 8/31. I definitely am ready for some football.

To celebrate the longest damned month of the year, I'll toss out some speculation. Kelly shits the bed at ND this year and we hire Bob Stoops.

    Discuss. :)

Corey, could happen. Do you think Stoops stays out all season?

I think he spends a year doing the TV thing. I think, like Meyer, he'll take the right opportunity if it comes.

As for Ole Miss, Joe Lee Dunn is only 71 :)
