If you think the Irish had a lot of players bolt for the Portal.... Georgia has had 18 players enter the portal since its SEC championship game loss to Alabama, which knocked the Bulldogs out of the College Football Playoff and a quest for three straight national titles. In addition to Dumas-Johnson, Georgia also has lost linebacker Xavian Sorey, who had 19 tackles this season. Defensive back A.J. Harris, ESPN's No. 37 recruit in the 2023 class, also entered the portal Friday. Harris had eight tackles in seven games for Georgia this season.
Alabama just had an OL pull his name back from the portal. Again, he didn’t have mush playing time but it will help our depth.
My understanding is that his interest in NU has cooled now that Raiola is back in the mix. I was a fan of the young man and was very disappointed that he decided to enter the TP. Tho still sympathetic to what he had to endure after the loss, the more I learn about the circumstances behind his departure, the less disappointed I've become and more frustrated and disgusted with what the whole NIL landscape has done to college football. Just not a good look anywhere.....
It seems as if 'Cuse has "won" the Kyle McCord lottery.....best of luck to him, I hope he finds what he's looking for but I sure don't see Jim Brown or Marvin Harrison Jr walking through the doors to the Dome Ex-Ohio State QB Kyle McCord to transfer to Syracuse, per report
I read somewhere Syracuse was a possibility and not too far from his family roots. Seems very logical to me.
Just seems like a bad move for McCord. It was his 1st year and he went 11-1. He'll be lucky to get a Syracuse team that can break .500. What do you Buckeyes thing the chances that Day was going to go with somebody else next year and told him that triggering the transfer.
Terry, Syracuse’s schedule for 2024 is soft as hell: Syracuse 2024 Football Schedule vs. Ohio Bobcats Saturday, August 31, time TBA at Army Black Knights Saturday, September 21, time TBA vs. Holy Cross Crusaders Saturday, September 28, time TBA vs. UConn Huskies* (city, state tbd) Time and date TBA vs. Miami Hurricanes Date and time TBA vs. Stanford Cardinal Date and time TBA vs. Virginia Tech Hokies Date and time TBA at Boston College Eagles Date and time TBA at California Golden Bears Date and time TBA at NC State Wolfpack Date and time TBA at Pittsburgh Panthers Date and time TBA
I agree, I think it's very unfortunate for young McCord. Everything I'm hearing is that we definitely wanted him to return. McCord (and his Dad, a former Rutgers QB) asked Day for assurances that he would be QB1 and wanted more NIL money. Most accounts place an NIL figure for QB transfers at north of $1 million. McCord wasn't getting that in Columbus and wanted more. Day basically told him that's not how things work in Columbus, everybody competes and if you work hard young man, good things tend to happen. The rest is history....by all accounts, McCord's life in Columbus has not been a pleasant one since the game in Ann Arbor , but if he considers himself an elite competitor with next level ambitions, I just don't see how the move is in his best interest. Short sighted imho
It was very obvious to me that Kyle and Coach Day had some serious issues following the Michigan game. I think Buckeye T's response was right on target as well. We will not know the success or failure of McCord's decision until after the coming season. It's tough to compete with Stroud's performance at OHio State for any untested QB.
Well it's Nebraska not the 'Cuse. I do have more faith that he'll do well with Matt Rhule so while it's unlikely he'll experience what he might have had he stayed in Columbus I do believe Rhule will have the Huskers moving up in the Big 10
hmm that sure makes it clear. Maybe what I read was old and after his Neb visit. Maybe Rhule didn't 1. promise him the job guaranteed and 2. Come up with the NIL he wanted.
Could be, that was also likely before the Raiola kid decided to continue his lengthy stroll down the $NIL$ trail....craziness.
In other playoffs, the Longhorns swept #1 seed Nebraska yesterday 3-0 to win the Volleyball Nat'l Championship. Longhorns are an annual power in Volleyball, won the Natty last year as well.
We have four freshman starters on that team. Should be an annual trip to the final 4 for the next few years.
