Has it been called in the past? Seems like I saw it done and it hasn't been called. I don't get to see a lot of Texas games though.
Hey, if the players in orange get to go around throwing up a sign, then so do the opposing players. Gotta be fair.
So this sweet ole Okie now gets punched out with an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty! This is un-American.
That's an interesting question. Is it a penalty if Texas players throw up out a hookem horns gesture?
Folks didn't come up with " horns down" out of the blue. It was a response to having the devil sign put in their faces all the time.
SEC Media Days start this morning. I see that Texags.Com is paying 2 A&M players 10K each for interviews.
Houston Cougars Football Coach, Dana Holgerson, said that about 70% of the team is vaccinated but hopes to get it closer to 100% by the time the season starts. I'm really surprised at this, and I'm sure that it's not just Houston. B12 as I said is not going to have postponements/reschedule for Covid issues, play or forfeit. The AAC, of which Houston is a member, is also going to play or forfeit. I haven't heard anything about what the B10.ACC, SEC or Pac12 are going to do, but I'll be surprised if they don't do the same thing. Since athletes are like the rest of the population, many vaccinated but also more than a few who aren't vaccinated for the same reasons as the general population. So I do expect we will have some issues during the season, maybe not the same as last season but I expect that some teams will end up playing with players out due to Covid or contact tracing.
Not a lot of Big Games to open the season. Fordham at Nebraska might be the biggest game of the opening weekend. Then maybe Miami/Alabama!
I haven't seen the details on how things will be handled with regards to fully vaccinated players vs unvaccinated players. As we saw with the NC State situation at the CWS, they did end up testing fully vaccinated asymptomatic players due to contact tracing and that's what caused them to be down to 13 players. I would imagine that might still be the rules, but I don't know.
OU has been on a run recently with recruiting. They just got a 5 star QB from right out from under USC's nose in Malachi Nelson. That would have never happened in days of yore. They have also picked up some highly rated RB's as well. Texas people are feeling like they have a really good shot at Arch Manning. That would be the biggest recruiting win at Texas in a very long time.
Forfeit is in the SEC language for dealing with the Covid this fall. Only 6 teams have reached 80%. HOOVER, Ala. -- SEC media days kicked off on Monday with commissioner Greg Sankey announcing that six of the conference's 14 football teams have reached an 80% mark for vaccinations. "That number needs to grow and grow rapidly," Sankey said. "We have learned how to manage through a COVID environment, but we do not yet have control of a COVID environment." One thing the conference can control is what it will do if a team is unable to play because of coronavirus issues. Sankey said games won't be postponed and has recommended that the conference removes the 53-man roster minimum that was put in place last year. The message to schools is "You're expected to play as scheduled," Sankey said.
I don't know why, but I thought Jones was a RS freshman last year. I'd completely forgot that you guys flipped him from Ohio State.
Listened to SEC Director of Officiating this morning. He said there will be new technology this fall with regards to reviews. More camera's will be cued up in parallel for the officials, previously it was 4 camera's but now it could be up to 12. New software as well as computers/etc.
