Uh Oh....Texas is up to 13 confirmed positive football players.

Including two reported from initial surveillance testing last week, as of Thursday, Texas Athletics has had 13 total Football student-athletes who have confirmed positive COVID-19 PCR test results or are presumed positive, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director for Sports Medicine & Performance Allen Hardin said. All 13 are now self-isolating. Through contact tracing, 10 more Football student-athletes are in self-quarantine, all of whom are asymptomatic at this time. In addition, Texas has identified four Football student-athletes who have tested positive for the COVID-19 antibody. Any additional updates will be reported as that information becomes available.

Having grown up in Jacksonville, living in Detroit and Tampa I think it's safe to say that you can get 25,000 locals out for a football bowl game.... they usually do come out annually.
Saw some very entertaining Motorcity Bowls because my brother-n-law always had tickets.
Unless they are driving you might not get many fans to travel unless this new infection rate drops some.

This take on Georgia isn't good news for Gator Fans...

    Georgia
The Dawgs feel pretty close to being a national title team. Lord knows, they’ve been bringing in five-star recruits at a staggering rate since Kirby Smart took over. Two years ago, they had Alabama on the ropes in the national championship game. Last year, Georgia got blown off the field by LSU in the SEC championship. Smart shook up his offensive staff and brought in 53-year-old Todd Monken, who has done some very impressive work as offensive coordinator at Oklahoma State and with the NFL’s Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Plus, he turned around the Southern Miss program during a three-year run as head coach from 2013-15. He is a really well-respected offensive mind by his peers.

Here’s the book on Monken from those who have worked with him: He’s a whiz with the passing game. He’s got some Air-Raid background with a little NFL influence. He’s very creative, very detail-oriented and great with receivers. His quarterbacks and wideouts know where the ball needs to go and Monken has a lot of savvy in terms of what passing concepts work best against certain looks. The Dawgs could use a jolt in their pass game. They ranked No. 47 in passing efficiency in 2019 and were No. 65 in pass plays of 20 yards or longer.

Georgia is stacked on defense, especially in the back seven. It should rival any group in the country there. But Monken — without much time this offseason to get the rhythm down with a new system — will have a bunch of new faces to sort out. Three really good O-linemen left early, along with another starter (Cade Mays) who transferred to Tennessee. D’Andre Swift, an elite running back, also is gone as is quarterback Jake Fromm. Wake Forest grad transfer Jamie Newman is big and runs really well but is still pretty raw as a passer. He has spent quite a bit of time refining his skills in the offseason with private quarterback coach Quincy Avery. USC transfer JT Daniels might be a more seamless fit for Monken’s system in terms of transitioning offenses, but it’s uncertain at this point if he’ll become immediately eligible.

Since Smart has been there stockpiling talent Georgia has been the SEC East team to be reckoned with.
This however gives me hope we might catch em:
"Wake Forest grad transfer Jamie Newman is big and runs really well but is still pretty raw"
Against very good defenses last year he was pretty average.
Bama, UF, Tenn, SC and Aub all should be a test for him.

Alabama and Ohio State have scheduled a home and home in 2027/28. That's a long time from now but should be fun.

Kp, that should be a great series for both squads, do you think Saban will still be coaching 27&28?;)

Don, I don't think so. He would be 75/76 by then. That's the only problem with scheduling that far in advance. Who knows how good either of the teams will be at that time.

It is amazing how many five star players Georgia is signing.

Meanwhile the Gators get a pretty good amount of four star and high three star players.

Tough times for the Gators vs Dawgs right now but hope springs eternal.

Oh the Gators have had a number of four and five star players transfer.

23 Clemson players test positive. I am resigning myself to the likelihood that there will be no 2020 season.

Well I'm really close to just giving up on this season altogether. I don't think it's gonna work.

LSU is reportedly quarantined a large number of plauers.

Kansas State has suspended voluntary workouts for 2 weeks.

I will be very surprised if we get by the so called volunteer workouts with these increasing numbers. There are just too many obstacles to overcome for the safety of the players.:(

Small world stuff. Gator fans will remember a highly recruited QB named Ingle Martin, who was a Gator till he got caught between Rex Grossman and Chris Leake and decided to leave for Furman where he had a couple of very successful seasons before being drafted by the Packers in the 5th round. Turns out he was the HS teammate of current Notre Dame DCoord Clark Lea and they meet again since Martin has a LB the Irish are interested in (Langston Patterson) at Nashville Christ Presbyterian Academy.

Probably a lot of stories like that out there though.

I've seen some suggest that the teams that go ahead and get a bunch of players infected now, will be in better shape for the season. If they hit Sept with most the players having had and recovered from the virus then they can be at full strength for the most part. Where teams that have dodged that bullet could experience multiple games with multiple players out isolating.

Ingle Martin was the QB the last time I witnessed in person a Tenn victory over Florida.
    2003 in the Swamp.
