OK so I watched a little of that, pretty interesting what they can do now. I couldn't watch that for a hour or more, but pretty interesting technology.

I dont know if you noticed, but the announcers were Jim Rose (voice of the Huskers) and Matt Davison. Davison was the receiver that caught the famous "Flea Kicker" pass in the '97 game against Mizzou.

I am still trying to analyze how our defensive line in going to look this fall, assuming social distance is still in effect, with being six feet apart, running backs will be licking their chops??o_O

NCAA has updated the targeting rule in a way that blows my mind, did they clarify the term, etc? No they decided the ejected player can remain on the sidelines. Now I don't really know why, I think all game ejections are sent to the locker room, right? Seems fair to me. So why do these guys get to stay on the sidelines?

Also game officials control of the game starts 90 minutes before KO instead of 60 minutes...prevent fights.

No more than 2 players can wear the same number and they of course can't be on the field at the same time. 0 will now be a legal number. Personally I think 1 player/per number is the way to go. To me it's always been stupid that multiple players can have the same number, that doesn't fly in the NFL. Booo Hooo if they have been wearing that number since pee wee football.

With. All of the problems facing collegiate sports, it seems a waste of time to make these rule changes. Fiddling while Rome burns?

The President of the Univ of Arizona has said he can't see College Football in the fall.

Time for the annual space filling lists to come out. This one ranks schedules.

Ranking every FBS college football team's strength of schedule

    Skybox teams.
    #5 Nebraska
    Opponent record: 97-60 (61.8%)

The Huskers had the schedule last year to make a big move up, as they faced only five teams that finished with a winning record, but went just 5-7. This year, they not only face nine teams that made it to a bowl last season but six teams that were ranked, which ties for the most.

    #9 Purdue
    Opponent record: 93-62 (60.0%)

Purdue faces six teams that finished ranked last season, tops for most in the FBS.

    #10 Alabama

    Opponent record: 93-63 (59.6%)

In the past couple of years, Alabama's schedule has been much maligned for being soft, and last season the Tide finished with my No. 52-rated schedule. This season, Alabama takes on nine teams that made it to a bowl, including USC, Georgia, LSU, Texas A&M and Auburn.

    #19 Michigan

    Opponent record: (90-64 58.4%)

The Wolverines play in the same division as Ohio State and Penn State. They pull Wisconsin and Minnesota out of the West and also open on the road at Washington.

    #21 Tennessee

    Opponent record: 89-64 (58.2%)

The Volunteers figure to face at least four top-10 teams in Alabama, Georgia, Florida and Oklahoma.

    #30 Notre Dame

    Opponent record: 88-67 (56.8%)

The Irish face 10 Power 5 foes this season, including Clemson, Wisconsin and USC.

    #43 Ohio State

    Opponent record: 84-69 (54.9%)

Ohio State faces eight teams that made it to bowls last season and four that finished ranked. The Buckeyes also face Oregon in a nonconference game, but this opponent win percentage is in the lower half of the Big Ten. Not playing themselves is a partial reason for that.

    #50 Texas
    Opponent record: 83-71 (53.9%)

    #58 Washington State

    Opponent record: 81-71 (53.3%)

    #72 UCLA

    Opponent record: 81-73 (52.6%)

    #90 Miami

    Opponent record: 79-76 (51.0%)

    #91 Florida

    Opponent record: 77-75 (50.7%)

The Gators face only five teams that made it to a bowl or had a winning record, and their opponent win percentage is second lowest in the SEC.

    #114 Texas A&M

    Opponent record: 72-78 (48.0%)

The Aggies face only three teams that finished with a winning record and four teams that made it to a bowl game.

I also noted Boise State has furloaded some of their football coaches for varying periods of time. No football this fall will drive AD's to make, more difficult choices. This could prove to be a tough situation.

I have seen where a number of Group of 5 conferences and teams are asking for a variance on the rule that you have to sponsor 14 (7 Men, 7 women) NCAA teams. So you can expect some sports to be dropped temporarily. Schools will have to be careful when doing this as Title IX isn't going to go away, so you can't just drop women's lacrosse, I imagine if you drop 1 womens sport you'll have to drop the corresponding mens sport as well.

One of the easiest rated schedules I can remember for Florida....but Georgia is still on it and that's a big hurdle for UF to overcome presently.

Last night the SEC set a record for the # of 1st round draft choices. This makes recruiting against SEC teams even more difficult IMHO. I have no doubt that to contend for the CFP you need elite talent that is headed to the NFL. Those players coming out of HS want to go places that increase their chances of getting to the NFL. Now certainly Clemson and Ohio State have SEC like records when it comes to getting players to the NFL, but the rest of us not so much. Add to that due to demographic shifts in population towards the states in the SEC footprint, it becomes more of the rich getting richer.

Kirby Smart whined that the SEC is getting negative recruiting from other coaches, wah wah wah....They are telling recruits don't go to the SEC it's too tough. Wah, Wah, Wah....doesn't seem to be working though, if you look at the 2020 rankings, 7 of the top 10 classes were from the SEC, so what's your point Kirby?

I think the line "you can start here right away" has always been used against talent packed teams in the past. It just happens to be that several SEC teams have been having exceptional recruiting success in the past few years.

18 of the first 87 players selected in the 2020 NFL draft were from LSU or Alabama.

Who says recruiting doesn't count? Only those who recruit well have much hope of playing for all of the marbles.;)
