Great win for the Longhorns. I didn't start the game hoping to hold UM without a TD, but as the game went on I was thinking that would be the cherry on top of the win. But it wasn't to be and the second half was more like I expected the game to be, and in fact UM won the 2nd half 9-7 Hook'em.
Sark tucked his claws in during the 2H. Texas dog walked Michigan and didn’t even break a sweat doing so. The Michigan fans who thought the Harbaugh to Moore transition would be like the Harbaugh to Shaw transition at Stanford are looking down the barrel of a Carr to Rich Rod transition. As Betty Davis said, “Buckle your seatbelts cause it’s going to be a bumpy ride.”
Stallions lost his first game as the interim head coach at Mumford High School in Detroit. When asked what happened he said “what do you expect, I didn’t know what plays they were calling”. Sorry, couldn’t resist.
Love the Iowa-Iowa State rivalry and today's game did not disappoint. Cyclones win 20-19 on a late field goal after doing almost nothing in the first half.
AJ's Huskers can do no wrong so far and lead 28-0 at the half. The kid Raiola looks very good and the Blackshirts are getting after Shadeur Sanders big time
Ohio State wins here at home 56-0 over Western Michigan. Tonight's game was solid on both sides of the game and more like what the fans were expecting for this year!
The score in the Alabama vs SFU does not reflect how much trouble Alabama was in tonight. Turnovers and penalties almost did us in.
The Vols really took it too NC State on the road, huge win against a ranked opponent. OU squeaked out a home win 16-12 vs a not very good Houston Cougars team. I see that Cam Rising had to leave the Utah win vs Baylor early and didn't return. I hope he's OK.
Nebraska finally put away Colorado 28-10. They didn't play as well in the 2nd half as they did in the 1st half, although to be fair the refs got to them on a lot of their big plays.
Riola is incredibly poised for a freshman and Nebraska physically beat the crap out of Colorado. Rhule is turning things around in Nebraska. Deon’s son is a really good QB but he has taken way too much punishment last year and the first two games this season. And the refs for the N-Co game were awful.
Agree Don, alot to like about yesterday. WMU was a tough out for Wisky last week, I expected more of a battle upfront, at least in the early going. OL looked good esp with their leader still being on the sideline. The young freshman continues to show he's the real deal. I've come to grips with the fact that Howard is not going to be the passer that McCord was and is but it's quite possible that his legs will be enough of a meaningful threat that it opens up the running game to the extent that the overall offense can be even more difficult to defend and more productive. That's my story and I'm sticking to it......
I agree Terry that Howard is no Stroud or McCord, but his presence does give us more offensive balance. Improvements between week one and and two, is always a good indicator of direction team is moving, so that was a definite positive last evening, defense looked good and performed very well. Fast start scoring on the first drive was encouraging. Yardage gained was another favorable indicator as well. No complaints from me this morning.
Well the Longhorns rose to #2 in the AP Poll and 6 of the top 7 are SEC Teams, only #3 Ohio State in there. Penn State and Oregon along with Miami round out the top 10. Michigan and Notre Dame dropped to 17 and 18 respectively. NIU made it's first appearance along with Nebraska, both well earned on the field.
Excellent article Nick. Many of us, myself included, were disappointed with the first half of the Akron game. The game with Western Michigan was important to get back on track and that is exactly what transpired for the Buckeyes.
