Not a huge surprise as the mega conference is ending up with more conference games and to make the playoffs a tough non-conference schedule doesn't make a lot of sense. I do wish though that all of the Div 1 schools in football would be probhibited from playing FCS teams. Irish have them on the schedule one being a HBCU, which some in the media give us kudo's. Sure it's nice, they get a big payday and all but fans get to see an exhibition game. __________________________________________________ With the USC Trojans and the UCLA Bruins set to join the Big Ten Conference next year, the Big Ten is considering a major change to its scheduling practices. According to a report from Brett McMurphy of The Action Network, the Big Ten is “strongly considering” eliminating a rule that requires Big Ten teams to schedule at least one Power Five non-conference opponent every season. “The Big Ten is ‘strongly considering’ removing its requirement for league teams to play a Power 5 nonconference team, starting in 2024, sources told Action Network. Big Ten teams also would be allowed to continue scheduling Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) opponents, sources said,” McMurphy wrote for Action Network on Wednesday. No fan likes the FCS game, but I understand why it happens. Lets hope none of the big schools start going for more than one a season tho...
Div I schools all want to play 7 home games a season which is of course impossible if you're always scheduling home and home with opponents. So you get the "no return" games with FCS schools. As almost always, it's about the money.
That's gotta be really hard to do.....here's the opposite of that story. I'm admittedly very, very biased but what Paris did is really hard to do as well.....I think the Cardinals got a good one. "Paris Johnson Jr. is going to prove to be a good one for the Cardinals. The 2022 Consensus All-American, and First-team All-Big Ten was moved from guard to left tackle last season. Johnson majored in journalism at Ohio State, graduating in less than three years while starting 26 straight games. Johnson has his own foundation that provides assistance to veterans and speaks Mandarin Chinese as well as some Portuguese." Paris Johnson Jr. Following In Father's Footsteps With Arizona Cardinals
Texas and Oklahoma join the SEC next season. How the games will be scheduled and who goes to the Championship game is still to be determined.
There was a lot of chatter that Oregon and Washington were eager to join the B10 and the interest was reciprocal. On top of that there has been rampant speculation that the Mountain 4, Az, Ut, Col, ASU leaving for the B12. But other than the speculation there haven't been any actual movement.
Not a surprise. NBC's new deal is going to be a lot of prime time games. Our game with USC is also going to be a night game.
