Sid I haven't looked up the rules I just know what I read. For Example Drew Pyne visited Arizona State and the reports are that he met with coaches. I know that the latest portal kid ND is interested in Byron Vaughns, they are trying to get it set up for him to visit. I'm pretty sure he will meet with coaches and staff. Of course contact before a kid enters the portal is a no no. But I always thought that was one of the prime motivations behind the portal for kids who want to transfer to have the ability to talk to coaches and visit programs while making up their minds. I also have no doubt that in todays college football that there are those out there who have interests in their "favorite" program and have NIL stuff to offer have contacted players and encouraged them to enter the portal and promise a nice soft landing. But that would mainly be for some of the big names who have entered the portal. Certainly more than a few college coaches are saying their players are being approached, paranoia? Maybe
As far as an Alabama rebuild, I don't doubt that you guys will lose a significant amount of talent. While I don't know for sure I doubt if this is the first time that you guys have lost a boat load of good players. I seem to remember you guys had a record # of players taken in the 1st round of the NFL draft, something like 6 guys after the 2020 season. You didn't win the Nat'l Championship in 2021 but you made it back to the title game and had you had your top WR's healthy I'm not sure Georgia would have beat you. But reloading is what Saban has been very good at, he recruits a high level of talent and develops that talent. This year you are a last second FG and a 2 point conversion away from an undefeated regular season, both games on the road in arena's crying for your blood! I have no doubt that the Tide will be in the pre-season top 5 next year. Like the rest of us you'll have holes to fill but you'll have a good roster to pull from to fill those holes. I'll be most curious to see how it turns out at QB for you guys. The kid who filled in for Young looks like he's not going to remind you of Mac Jones or Bryce Young as a QB but who knows.
Ha! Way too early 2023 pre-season top 10! Bleacher Report has released its way-too-early 2023 college football preseason Top 25 poll. There are many familiar names at the top. Georgia Michigan Alabama Ohio State TCU Clemson Utah Notre Dame Penn State USC College Football Preseason Top 25 Rankings Post-2022 Early Signing Period
Terry, I'll echo your Ha! I must ask what they think will change between this season and next that has USC 2 places behind ND vs. 2 places in front.
Yeah Brian Branch, a junior DB who was a starter just declared for the draft too. Yeah Milroe may improve but I sure don't think he has a lock on the position. It has been a long time since we haven't had a very promising QB already identified.
Everybody getting into the act for LSU, they are on their 3rd QB and they just scored again! Brian Kelly finishing on an upbeat, LSU fans have to be happy.
Brutal hit in the Tulane/USC game, player held on to the ball but they didn't call targeting. Tulane scores with 9 seconds left on a great catch. Oh USC tears are so sweet!!!!
Turns out that the Tulane TE (Alex Bauman) who caught the winning TD is the younger brother of ND's Kevin Bauman also a TE.
That was targeting, that incomplete pass call was also bogus and Tulane still won. Good for them. Wonder what was on Caleb's fingernails today.
1. I agree that should have been targeting. I am just glad both players were able to get up. 2. **** Tulane won't fit on his fingernails!
With all of the replays, I'm not sure what targeting is. He may want to know how to replace "**** Tulane", with " got ****** by Tulane".
Willie Fritz won the Dodd award for coach of the year and today’s performance by his team definitely proves the right choice was made. Incredible comeback by Tulane.
S**t here we go again. From the Athletic which is a credible source: Things are never boring when the March Hare is your head coach.
While it might be hard to do, if he even interviews for an NFL job after last year and saying he was done with the NFL and wants to finish his career at Michigan, I'd fire him. Again it'd be really tough to fire a coach who has beaten Ohio State in back to back years and who has back to back CFP teams.
