to kp's point, Iowa State is down 3 at home vs Louisiana. And UNC is in an unexpected battle with Syracuse.
Well 2 big upsets so far, Iowa State at home losing to Louisiana and Ark State beating KState at Manhattan. Iowa State was being talked about as a team to keep an eye on with Brock Purdy at QB. UNC rolled over Syracuse. 'Cuse played them tough early, I guess Mack Brown made some adjustments !
Not saying Ark St is a world beater, but they do have some good players. Roshaud Paul was a grad transfer from A&M, and he had a very good game against the Wildcats.
Well they lost to Memphis last week. This is the 2nd year for Chris Klieman, I thought he was a good hire for KSU. This is not a good start for them. I see that Texas is 104-20-3 in all-time home openers. 105 coming up. Longhorns are 40+ point favorites. Clemson had to leave some players home for Covid reasons, including a starter on the DL . Still should be no problem for them at Wake.
Longhorns up 34-0 with 12 minutes left in the half. A lot of backups are going to play, and we will still cover the 43 point spread.
Not a huge surprise I guess but Ga.Tech beat FSU 16-13 OU up 41-0 in the 3rd qtr over Missouri State. Clemson 27-0 over Wake at halftime.
I see that the ACC has a protocol in place for canceling the season. If they have fewer than 8 teams playing the season is over. According to a document Virginia Tech released Saturday related to the postponement of its game against Virginia, at least eight of the 15 ACC football teams need to move forward with games in order for the season to continue. Anything below that threshold could lead to a postponement. But perhaps the most interesting consideration is this: If either the SEC or Big 12 discontinues its plans to play football in the fall, along with likely postseason cancellations, the ACC would have to determine whether to continue forward. ACC needs 8 football teams to continue season
The next poll should have some unfamiliar teams in it now that the Pac 12 and Big 10 teams will be dropped from the polls.
AP poll is out, Big 10 teams and Pac 12 teams are out. 6 of the top 10 are SEC teams. LSU who lost a crap ton of players, including a once in a generation QB and his QB Coach even got a vote for #1. Clemson Alabama Oklahoma Georgia Florida LSU Notre Dame Auburn Texas A&M. The Sunday ESPNU show said that Clemson is far and away #1 because none of the other top 10 teams have anybody even close to as talented as the combo of Trevor Lawrence and Travis Etienne.
In the ever evolving schedule where we have cancellations and postponements. Baylor and Houston hastily decided to play each other next weekend. Baylor lost it's non-conf game with La.Tech and Houston lost it's game with Memphis. Quick action by the schools and voila Bears and Cougars old SWC rivals will be playing!
I see that OU was apparently hit pretty hard by Covid and the game vs Missouri State was in doubt. Riley has said he won't give out numbers but more than 3 OL's were lost and some other players as well. But according to B12 rules teams will have to play if they have at least 53 players, 7 OL and 1 QB. I doubt if OU was down that far.
Wyatt Davis becomes the first Buckeye to opt out of the college football season and announce he will enter the 2021 NFL draft. He will really be missed as an all American on our offensive line.
Terry... we still aren't sure what the deal is with Ausbon. He stopped practicing about 2 weeks ago, and it was thought there were some personal issues in play. NFL? While he's a very good possession guy and college WR, his physical talent level doesn't scream NFL. We all make our decisions, so I guess time will tell.
In an odd turn of events, Texas had a backup DB apparently quit on the team in the 2nd half .. But then there are reports that he met with Tom Herman yesterday and decided that he wants to play. Apparently he's not been happy that he was beaten out for a starting job.
