I just finished reading a book, The Legends Club, by John Feinstein. It's the first of his books that I've read. It's about the Valvano-Krzyzewski-Smith rivalry going back to the 70s, before Valvano and Coach K came to NC State and Duke and coming forward to 2016. I loved it and recommend it highly for any college basketball fan who has even a smidgen of appreciation for the history of the rivalry involving the three Carolina "triangle" programs.

I've read that some of USC's players will opt not to play in the NIT, and that the players at Louisville voted to not go to the NIT, but the Admin said you're going!

Are the USC players opting out those that took payments or those that didn't?

Oklahoma's long slide has finally hit bottom and they are done. Not sure why they got in, they lost something like 12 out of their last 14 games. They did have some good wins early, but then when it started to slide they couldn't stop it. Doesn't help that Trae Young never met a shot he doesn't like.

hmmm...I see that Thad Matta turned down the Georgia job, surprising to me. I know Georgia isn't exactly a blueblood in basketball but I would think the right guy could do very well at UGA. Georgia reportedly talking to Tom Crean now.

    Terry,

I am glad Thad did not take the job at Georgia. I really think he is better off for not taking the job. He really is not physically ready to coach at the present time. Life is too short to put that much pressure on one's self.

I was really worried about the game today for Ohio State. Waiting two weeks to play in the NCAA tournament was weird. The team did have one scrimmage against another team, but they played much better than I anticipated. The Rabitjackets played a solid game and it went down to the wire. Daum and Keita Bates-Diop were very evenly matched. We will have our hands full with Gonzaga in the next game for the Buckeyes.

Well, Alabama seems to have peaked at the right time. Good game against VaTech last night. Villanova next.

Well the Pac12 officially stinks. They didn't get many teams into the dance in the first place and they are the first major conference to have all of it's teams lose in the 1st round. Az was a team a lot of people thought would make a deep run, but Buffalo handled them easily. Not good for my bracket!

I had the bad Alabama showing up vs VaTech!!

I am not sure who is to blame Arizona or Buffalo, but it really screwed up my bracket picks.

I went on a hunch that Az and Sean Miller were on a Mission given the accusations thrown about a few weeks ago. They were an early season favorite and have maybe the top NBA pick in the kid who was at the center of the problem. I thought that would be a powerful motivation to show everybody.

I had them going to the Final Four. Wipes out the top 1/2 of my South. Which I had changed after the UVA kid got knocked out of the tourney. So now my big hope is Cincy.

I had Bama winning, they are a good young team. They are clearly the all hair team of the tourney. That's usually good for 1 win a tourney. I don't have them winning the next one, but I wouldn't rule it out. They are good enough to beat anyone.

Re Arizona: That ******** set 1/4 of my bracket on fire. Only in one of the brackets that I'm playing did I have UVa moving on. I had Arizona dumping them in every other bracket I'm playing. If I saw Coach Miller in an elevator right now, I'd boo his ass.

    Stu,

Tough loss for sure Stu. I can not imagine how he must feel with such an injury.

Well, the Stephen F Austin coach explanation for his team's loss to Texas Tech is one I've never heard before from a losing coach:
Did Texas Tech field a team of aging baby boomers?

He might be right, but pretty odd comment. I mean it's an fact, even Nick Saban commented a few years ago about Bama students coming late and leaving early due to smart phone addiction. At a lot of colleges across the country student attendance is an issue and students reply that because of poor wifi or nonexistant wifi they have to be out of touch with their friends too much...so colleges are all beefing up their wifi.

Too bad for Haas, I had Purdue to the Final 4 because of his play...so now I'm probably screwed in my East bracket!
