Miami Hurricanes are in a positon now to win the ACC regular season, they can't coast into it but it could happen. March 2 game at Notre Dame will be big for both teams in terms of seeding for one and for Miami if they keep winning the ACC reg season championship.
X men having a great year, my brother a XU grad who knows the AD there and he goes back annually for the Hall of Fame Inductions, says that the coach is likely not going to be wandering like the previous 2 guys (Matta and Miller). Irish got a road win at Wake Forrest last night. It wasn't a pretty win, but it was a win. I see that Wisconsin is heating up in the Big 10, they beat Iowa at Iowa City last night. It won't be surprising if Indiana wins the Big 10 championship but MSU gets the higher NCAA seed. Kansas right now seems to be a lock for the B12 Champion, and OU is likely to be a high NCAA seed. The Aggies have bounced back and that Kentucky win will go a long way on their resume for the NCAA seeding. They have a shot still at winning the SEC reg season championship. Texas just looking to finish the season strong and get a couple of wins in the B12 tourney and back to the NCAA tournament. Smart has done a pretty darn good job in his first year.
As an IU fan, I agree. IMO Michigan State at this time is the strongest team in the conference, as shown by their recent decisive victory over IU. The Big 10 tournament will go a long way to determining the seeding.
Irish need to show up Wed night vs your Hurricanes Ralph. You guys handled us pretty easily in Miami, if we're going deep in the ACC touranment we need to be able to beat you guys at home and also beat NCState at home in our finale. Iowa lost today to Ohio State and another top 10 team in Xavier also lost, earlier Purdue knocked off Maryland at home. Texas took down OU very easily in Austin while Kansas won it's 12th straight B12 regular season title. Duke was beaten today by Pitt, handily. Topsy Turvy year in college basketball. Kansas to me looks like the team to beat in the NCAA tournament. They've played a very tough B12 schedule and seem to be peaking at the right time.
We finally won a conference game with a ranked opponent. The win was very gratifying, but a little late. We must win at MSU Saturday and do well in the Big Ten Tournament, if we are to receive a bid to the Big Dance. (Highly Unlikely)
Huge game tonight for the Longhorns, KU comes to town for Senior night in Austin. It would be a huge upset for the Longhorns, but one that they are capable of pulling off. They will of course have to play their best game of the year, but it could happen. Longhorns finish the season on the road at Oklahoma State. I think we have enough quality wins to be solid with regards to an NCAA bid, it's all about seeding from here on out. Right now most have us as a #5 seed.
Bad night for the Longhorn basketball teams. Men were routed by KU, and the women were routed by Baylor.
A&M/Auburn is tight, Ag's need the win. IU/Iowa is a big game and IU having it's way right now with Iowa but a lot of time left. News of the day, Rick Pitino may not return to Louisville. I can't believe he'd be finished with coaching, also can't believe he'd want the UNLV job which is what some are saying would be his next move.
I guess 81-63 could be called "tight"... Ags get the W and a chance to win the SEC with a revenge game against Vandy Saturday.
A&M game was tight till they ran off points to end the half and start the 2nd half. Womens tournaments start today.
Stu....LOL! It's pretty interesting here in Indiana. The Crean bashers in the media - and there were many after Maui and the Duke game - have miraculously made a turnaround and are complimenting Crean and nominating him for COY in the B10.
