I didn't realize that the Gators had a 7'9" freshman. Wow, if he develops it certainly will make it tough to go inside on Florida. Big men definitely take longer to develop in most cases, Chet Holmgren and Victor Wembanymaya aside. GAINESVILLE, Fla. -- The world's tallest teenager might have to wait a year to become the world's tallest college basketball player. Florida coach Todd Golden said Thursday that Olivier Rioux, a 7-foot-9 freshman who owns a spot in the Guinness record book, is planning to redshirt. Had the popular Canadian played in even one game, he would have burned one of his four seasons of college eligibility. Instead, Rioux will spend the 2024-25 season practicing with teammates and honing his skills -- and will still be a freshman next fall. Gators to redshirt 7-foot-9 freshman Rioux
Basketball recruiting just finished it's early signing period. 1. Duke 2.UCONN 3.Kentucky 4.Notre Dame ....not used to seeing the Irish ranked like this since the hey day of Digger 5.SMU 6.Michigan 7.Houston 8.LSU 9.Iowa State 10. Mississippi State
Congratulations Scott, my Buckeyes were no match last night with their suffocating defense and generous foul line advantage by the officials.
It was a proper a$$ kicking in every phase of the game. Scott's boy's played well, we got work to do before we can compete at that level on the road
Purdue wins a back and forth prizefight against KP's #2 Alabama. Difference was (I think) the crowd and Bama got a little cold string right at the wrong time towards the end of the game. KP I think your kids are going to go far. We were fortunate.
I gotta say I'm surprised. As I said earlier, Buzz's teams are known for starting the season slow, and then rounding into form about midway. Maybe... maybe this year is different???
With the annual roster turnover in basketball, I have trouble trying to figure out college basketball.
Marquette hosting the Boilermakers and it's a barn burner of a game. Marquette is up 44-37 but a long way to go.
They dominated us. Losing Edey and then losing Jacobsen for the season with a broken tibia really hurt us inside. But Marquette was quicker and seemed like they had 8 men on the floor...they were all over the place. Plus they hit their three's and we missed a bunch. I was shaking my head at all the hand checking and grabbing but I guess that's basketball now.
Buckeyes won last night at home over Evansville, but playing games like this are really not much help for Ohio State.
Bradshaw a five star transfer from Kentucky, did not suit up last night and was not on the bench either. Coach Diebler said he is not participating in team activities? Doesn't sound good to me, everyone including the university is being very tight lipped about the situation.
KU tops Duke, UCONN loses 2 in a row a lot going on in college basketball as it's now Holiday Tournament season.
This type of start to a season would be the end of a football teams chances at a Nat'l Championship...but not in Basketball, it's how you play in conference and do you finish strong on an upswing. UConn forward Alex Karaban was taken to a hospital for a head injury after an 85-67 loss to Dayton on Wednesday that sent the No. 2 Huskies to an 0-3 finish at the Maui Invitational. Karaban's head hit the floor after being fouled with about 2½ minutes left. He stayed in the game but was later placed in the concussion protocol and sent to the hospital for further testing.
Buckeyes lose to Pittsburgh here at home today 91-90 in OT on a three pointer by the vistors as time expired!
SEC/ACC Challenge has been a blood bath for the ACC. 14-2 for the SEC. The ACC has really declined, it wasn't that long ago that it was the premier college basketball conference, now no more.
