Maybe Dawn Staley has had prior issues with that ref and crew. I dunno. I watched the game...it was a great game and finish...but that foul call (3 shot shooting foul) had me shaking my head as well. I'm not sure it made a difference...she'd have had 2 shots anyway and she made 2 of the 3 that she was awarded. But she missed the first, so maybe the end is played differently if Iowa is down one or 2.

#1 Purdue goes down on the road to Nebraska and #2 Houston goes down to Iowa State also on the road.

Houston was the last undefeated team.

Congrats, AJ. Was an ugly game from our perspective...We seemed flat and distracted to start and dug a hole. Then I think y'all shot 11/17 from 3 point land with many of them contested pretty well. Meantime Nebraska collapsed in the paint and let our (normally pretty good shooters) brick wide open threes. Edey's got to figure some things out...all our opponents are defending him with hook and holds and triple teams. Works out ok for us when our shooters are hot but otherwise not so much. He gets a lot of fouls called but could be more. (Disclosure; have read opponents claiming the opposite...that the refs give him too many free throws...guess it depends whose glasses you're wearing). Play gets rough and tough for the refs when you triple team a 300 lb. 7'4" kid...even though he's a clean player. Anyway I was impressed with Nebraska...particularly Mast, Tominaga, and Gary...but that Wilcher kid is something else...couldn't miss...he was the big difference late.

Hoiberg built a quality program at Iowa State and now seems to be doing the same thing at Nebraska.

Tominaga reminds me of the exchange student from the Sixteen Candles movie.

Another tough loss for the Houston Cougars on the road at TCU, had the ball for the last shot to win and turned it over instead.

Iowa and Catlin Clark just rolled over a good Indiana squad yesterday 84-57 they are looking a lot like another Final Four run is in the making for them. Certainly the class of the Big 10.

Don I see that Catlin Clark and the Hawkeyes will be in Columbus this weekend, should be a good matchup your Buckeyes are right there with them in the Big 10.

Stu's Boilermakers put a hurtin' on IU last night, Zach Edey had 33 points.

But lots of upsets, 4 ranked teams went on the road and lost. #9 Baylor lost to KSU, #11 Wisconsin lost to Penn State, #16 Utah State lost to New Mexico and #19 TCU who just upset #2 Houston went to Cincy and lost.

Big game tonight is Houston at home trying to not lose 3 in a row for the first time in Sampson's career at Houston vs Texas Tech a team that went to Austin last week and upset a ranked Texas squad.

Bit chippy yesterday, I didn't see any of these but read about them.

In the NCState/Wake Forrest game there was a dust up and 4 Technicals and 2 ejections. The video to me looks like some incidental contact by one player, who happens to be Danny Kanell's nephew and the Wake Forrest kid but it exploded into a full on incident.

At the Alabama/Missouri game Nate Oats shoved a Missouri player when things got heated.

At the Maryland/Illinois game where the #10 Illini were upset by Maryland one of the Illini assistants refused to shake hands with one of the Maryland players. On ESPNU they said the handshake line needs to go away to avoid incidents.

Clark's record watch: The countdown is on for when, not if, Clark breaks Kelsey Plum's NCAA record for most career points. Clark is 221 points away and is projected to pass Plum in mid-February -- possibly at home. The Iowa Hawkeyes host the Michigan Wolverines on Feb. 15 and the Illinois Fighting Illini on Feb. 25. Clark became the Big Ten's all-time assists leader earlier this season and is the first Division I player to record 3,000 points, 900 assists and 800 rebounds.

Amid all the numbers to watch is Iowa's pursuit of an outright Big Ten title, something the Hawkeyes have yet to do with Clark (they shared the title with Ohio State in 2022). After Saturday's convincing win over the Indiana Hoosiers buoyed by Clark's 30 points and 11 assists, Iowa is in the driver's seat.

TCU women's team has forfeited the next two games because they don't have enough players. Very strange.

FORT WORTH, Texas -- TCU's next two games have been canceled because the team does not have enough available players, the Big 12 announced Wednesday.

The Horned Frogs (14-4, 1-4 Big 12) were scheduled to play at No. 7 Kansas State on Wednesday night and at No. 24 Iowa State on Saturday.

The conference did not disclose the reason for TCU's player shortage. Under conference rules, a school unable to field a team will forfeit the contest if no extraordinary circumstances exist.

As a result, Iowa State and Kansas State each will be credited with a win in the conference standings and TCU will pick up two losses. Overall records will not be impacted, per NCAA policy.

TCU did not immediately respond to a message seeking comment.

TCU point guard Jaden Owens suffered a torn ACL and meniscus in her right knee against Houston on Saturday and will miss the rest of the season. Ten players saw action in that game.

The Horned Frogs' next game is scheduled for Jan. 23 at home against UCF.

They are holding open tryouts to get some more players.

Getting chippy out there, now a problem in the handshake line after UCF beat Texas, UCF players were doing the horns down sign and it didn't sit well with the Texas coach. Longhorns are in trouble, highly ranked to start the season but lost another home game, last week it was to Texas Tech.
