We had our chances but the Illini won the game. I am very proud of the effort this evening in a losing effort. 77-74 in the Quarter finals of the Big Ten Tournament.
Wisconsin takes down Purdue and will face Illinois in the Big 10 final. That is a big surprise. Illinois was the #2 seed so with the win over Iowa they are where they were predicted, in the Championship game. Only Edey was in double figures for Purdue. Wisconsin had 4 starters in double figures, they didn't do it from 3 point land as they were only 21% from 3 point land. Iowa State handling the Houston Cougars in the 1st half and have a 7 point lead.
Well besides, #1 Houston going down in a beat down, #3 Purdue Lost in OT and now #4 UNC got beat by NC State a team that had to win 5 games in 5 days to win this ACC Championship. Amazing. UConn is the only top 4 team who won, they beat Marquette in the Big East Championhip. They are saying none of these losses impact their #1 Seeds in the tournament.
Re: earlier post indicating the end of SI Magazine. Apparently that's not the case. It was reported that the management had told the staff that May would be the last publication. What had happened is that the contracted publisher had been plagued with problems and apparent mismanagement and that SI had decided to cut ties. Today I read that they've chosen a new publisher, a British company, to continue publication. As Rosanna Rosanna Danna used to say, Never mind.
ESPN's Steven Smith likes the Aggies!! ESPN's Stephen A. Smith released his Final Four picks and predicted which team will win the national title on First Take. Smith has a shocking team making a run to the Final Four this season. Smith predicted UConn, North Carolina, Purdue, and Texas A&M to make the Final Four in Glendale, Arizona on April 6. He also predicted UConn to defeat Purdue in the national championship on April 8. Texas A&M making the Final Four would be historic as the Aggies have never advanced past the Sweet Sixteen. The Aggies have not made the Sweet Sixteen since 2018 and lost to Penn State in the first round last season.
Guess he's digging for clicks. No doubt we have the guards to make a deep run if they are hot, but when they aren't...
Is it true that Nebraska is the only Power 5 team to have never won a NCAA tournament game? Also What are the odds that we'd have a Trev Alberts bowl in both the men's and women's tournament?
Some thought UVA stole St. John's NCAA bid, maybe they were right. DAYTON, Ohio -- For almost 14 minutes of game time and nearly an hour of real time, the ball didn't go through Virginia's basket even once. The Cavaliers have been vulnerable to sluggish offensive outputs -- both this season and in the past -- but Tuesday's lull was particularly painful. Virginia occupied a spot in the NCAA tournament that many felt should have gone elsewhere, to a Big East team or perhaps Indiana State. Cavaliers coach Tony Bennett said his team had "maxed out" its regular-season potential and came to the First Four with genuine excitement. Instead, Colorado State was the team that validated its placement and showed it perhaps deserved a stronger seed. The 10th-seeded Rams smothered fellow 10-seed Virginia's offense and, perhaps more surprisingly, found cracks in the Cavaliers' signature defense, cruising to a 67-42 win at UD Arena.
The first 10 minutes, I was amused. Loved the up and down style. End of 1st half, I was convinced that eventually we'd dominate them physically and athletically and likely blow them out in the 2nd half. With 5 minutes to go, I was seriously concerned that they were going to beat us. In the last minute I was praying to all that is good in the world just for a win.....any kind of win. That's exactly what we got....they were fun to watch and I'm sure devastated at the missed opportunity. Just happy for the W
Watching Kaitlyn Clark for the first time really. Not really having a great day shooting but she is a deadly passer. Also highly accurate from the line. Great field of vision and unselfish.
The lass from Ireland who Holy Cross imported probably attended a Connor McGregor summer basketball camp.
Michigan reportedly is going to hire Dusty May the FAU coach who took them to the Final Four in 2023. May is an IU graduate who was a Student manager for the Bobby Knight teams and has worked his way up through a lot of jobs. But never played college basketball.
